  Firearms And Shooting...

  i thought i would open up a thread on firearms and shooting.

  personally i was raised around firearms as my dad was not a jw.

  some of my earliest memories are of my dad teaching me how to put a round in a fleas ass at 200 meters.

  This amendment was drawn up by people living in an precarious agrarian society unrecognisable to modern Americans, when communities needed guns to hunt and to protect themselves from Indians and highwaymen.

  The Second Amendment made sure Americans had the RIGHT to be armed. There is no if's and's or but's about this. Even a small amount of reseach will show anyone where the founding fathers stood on this. Anyone that tries to say the "right to keep and bear arms" does not mean what it says is either being disingenuous, or extremly under educated.

  Therein lies the biggest problem - how to remove the vast number of guns that are already in circulation in America.

  Many including me, do not believe "vast numbers of guns" are a problem. A lot of credence has been given to the phrase..."more guns less crime."

  The Democrats would like everyone who has a gun to have a licence. They would like to step up the background checks on gun buyers, but they are not proposing outlawing sawn-off shotguns, semi-automatics, concealed weapons or anything else.

  And most Democrats it would seem have not bothered to read the Constitution, or inform themselves on this important subject. "Sawn-off shotguns" have been heavily regulated since 1934. As for semi's and concealed weps, you couldn't throw a stone and not hit a Dem that did not want to ban them. Give me a BREAK!!! And lets face it, most Democrats would like me to have a license for my morning sit down.

  And if even they did, how would the police go about rounding up the arsenals of weapons in American homes?

  But it really boils down to this dosen't? I bet they would find out REAL quick why the Nazi's quit sending soilders into the Warsaw Ghetto.

  In a society where firearms are as common as the kitchen sink, it is only proper and prudent to teach kids about them. My children were taught from an early age to respect these tools, and to understand the powers involved. They were also taught to always remember my number one rule..."all firearms are to be treated as if they are loaded....even if you are SURE they aren't."

  I remember one time, years ago, the "SWAT team" came to my son's school for the "DARE" graduation. They were letting the kids handle the of course unloaded handguns. My son was the only one to take the wep, drop the mag, and pull the slide back to unsure that it was not loaded...and then pointed it at the ground. The cop turned to me and said...."I'm impressed, the training shows. Your son would have been the only one here that would not have endangered anyone had the gun been loaded."

  Would YOU kill someone if you felt they really deserved to die?

  could be anyone, osama bin laden, oj simpson, pat robertson, someone who personally hurt you or your family, anyone at all.

  would you pull the trigger, throw the switch, etc, which would end someones life?

  would it make a difference if no one would ever know, versus everyone knowing?

  I don't beliieve in any supreme law that would ever make me feel that way. I don't believe in a moral justice, it is all cultural conditioning anyway, this moral justice thing, there is no right and wrong these are just arbitrary and imaginary illussions of the mind.

  No right and wrong? ......Oh, California...that explains it. But would you feel the same way if a bad guy was raping your wife in front of you?

  Having No Life....

  i really feel sorry for my wife sometimes.

  her parents are "true believers" and she really wants to please them, and of course live forever with them in paradise.

  but sometimes i think the combination of having a job, and going to the meetings and out in service is killing her.

  She still finds time to do things with me. But my concern is the fact that she always says she is so tired. I try to get her to take it easy, but she is just to wrapped up in "exerting herself vigorously" in this time of the end. (Pardon men while I sneeze and make the BS sound.)

  I really feel sorry for my wife sometimes. Her parents are "true believers" and she really wants to please them, and of course live forever with them in paradise. But sometimes I think the combination of having a job, and going to the meetings and out in service is killing her. She is always tired, and most of the time in a bad mood. (I think she resents me not going to the meetings on more than one level.) And it seems like every time I look she has her nose in the NWT, or some other JW publication. Her entire LIFE is wrapped around this cult, and it just drives me nuts.

  As a side note, those who say "shoot to wound" would be handicapping themselves in the US justice system. The only 'justified' shoot is if you are in fear for your life (or another's). If you 'only' shot to wound you weren't in fear for your life. Plus, kneecaps are a lot harder to hit than center of mass.

  Center of mass....Frontsight....Press.... Repeat as needed.

  Once you have made the judgement that you are in fear for you life or "great bodily harm", (and this can be transfered to others) a job needs to be done. I was taught that a bad guy is a threat as long as he is on his feet.

  Could I kill somebody if I really felt they deserved to die? Only if I was present while the threat was happening. If I came across somebody doing awful things to my family, yes. I wouldn't worry about it afterwards either.

  I have always said it would be very dangerous if you put myself, my family, or other innocents "in fear of death or great bodily harm" while in my presence. In short, I would have no problem at all with letting/helping someone that did the above assume room temp.

  Taking it one step further....given the lenthy appeals process in this country, I would not even have a problem being the one pulling the switch, or sticking the needle.

  good men have shed their blood on the battlefield of freedom so i might be free.... stood up to tyrany that i and others would taste the sweet smell of freedom.... and yet for almost 30 years i distained these people as enemies of god.

  distained their sacrafice as worthless.

  i stand here today to ask forgiveness of those who laid down their lives that i may be free.

  The true appreciation comes in exercising the rights they fought to defend, including the hatred of wars and the fighting of them. If we cannot desent, we are spitting on thier graves.

  I agree for the most part. However I draw the line at those who wish to burn the flag, (the symbol of our country) spit on soldiers....or call them murderers.

  The superior life is the lengthy one

  I do not agree at all. True it is good to live a nice long life....but at what price?

  how much can one person gag?

  it is interesting to note that clive thomas (canadian branch office) spoke during his part in such a way as to betray the fact that he was personally aware that what he was saying was false.. it's one thing when a local onion gets exuberant about parroting the gb's nonsense.

  it's quite another when a bloodsucker like clive comes from the branch and does a "bait 'n switch" the way he did.

  Wait! This is 2006! Nothing happened in the 1970's! Despite "reliable Bible chronology" indicating that the end of man's 6,000 years of existence was in 1975.

  
  

  
  I saw something my wife brought home from a meeting a few weeks ago. It was something that someone had printed up showing the timeline when you consider a 1000 years is one day to Jah. Now don't you know that only a few SECONDS have passed since 1975!!!

  My take on this nonsense is that time is time. If you are an eternal being, I'm sure 1000 years does not seem that long....but it is still 1000 years.

  This is of course only applies if you don't get into the whole "space time" thing of Star Trek.
