I'll take Rex over the right-wing, "survivalist gun-lobby" that has infiltrated the board recently! LOL
Just say the word. If I'm not welcome here by the majority, I will leave.
some kind of sanity seems to have settled over the place.
where's shining one, scholar and all the other little rapscallions?

Gun Club/Rifle Range.
i have my final dives this weekend to qualify as an open water scuba diver.
i have to admit i'm nervous so if anyone here has passed can you let me know what to expect?.
all tips would be appreciated.. nic'
I have been diving since 1979, and I'm just a few dives short of being a Master Diver. I have been out as a an assistant instructor many times, and I can tell you that you will do just fine. Just remember, if you forget everything else, don't hold your breath. Another tip - don't use to much weight. You want just enough so you sink when you exhale. To much weight will make your buoyancy hard to control.
I highly recommend that you continue your training to at least Advanced Open Water Diver. A few specialties would be good to, with Nitrox at the top of the list. Then maybe navigation. BTW, Nitrox will let you dive deeper and stay longer. One day about 4 years ago, I made 3 Nitrox dives in one day, all to more than 125 feet, and lasting 35, 25, and 20 minutes. (32 percent mix, 100 cubic foot steel tank filled to 3850 PSI) Though my dive computer told me I did not have to decompress, I did hold at ten feet until my air ran low. BTW, my dive computer was telling me at the end of the last dive to not dare go back in the water.
weren't they sickening??
always trying to curry favor with the elders and circuit overseers.
most of those that could never quite make the grade couldn't for a reason.
Funny: I played the part in the DC drama in the late 70's where I was studying to be an elder.
I was there, and I remember that part! So I take it you failed your test? Do you by any chance remember the part where the brother was upset because he had not been made a servant, and he "just knew he could teach the congregation a thing or two?" .....that was me.
how much of your thinking is controlled by the government in which you live?a lot or a little?
come on let us talk about it intelligently,, lets avoid crued remarks and talk about this subject as unbiasedly as possible,,,together.
we have all been taught the pledge of allegence, and those god blesses us as a country blaa blaa songs stuff... isn't that blatten propagandic type programming?do you beleive the bible where it calls these god ministers :))))?
No we are talking how ever the Government controls your thinking plane and simple no special way everything is up for grabs.
Sadly I would have to say that the government controls a persons actions, more than his thoughts. For example when I was a kid, I was a "trap-shooting brat." Meaning that my Dad was heavily into trapshooting, and competed in a tri-state area. I was hauled to it seemed like dozens of different gun clubs. I have memories of many smoke filled rooms at these clubs, with men talking freely about the politics and policies of the day. As I got older, I saw that this was no more. People had become afraid of saying the wrong thing and getting their words twisted and used against them by the government. People I think for the most part, still think the same way....they are just afraid to open their mouth. The above is offered for informational and educational purposes only. It does not necessarily reflect the opinion of the author.

We used to used to say...."oh he's studying to be an Elder." It was not a complement.
i thought i would open up a thread on firearms and shooting.
personally i was raised around firearms as my dad was not a jw.
some of my earliest memories are of my dad teaching me how to put a round in a fleas ass at 200 meters.
Has anyone ever seen a .44 magnum chrony faster than 2000 feet per second? Last year I had some .44 bullets made out of "Nylatron." They were then set on top of a FULL CASE of Bullseye. They chronographed at just over 3000 feet per second, and the cases showed no signs of pressure. Pretty cool huh?
BTW, I also invented a new shooting position when I tested these for the first time. Now keep in mind that I have been reloading for more than ten years, and had done a lot of research - but still. So I went to the range with a friend when it was closed and no one was there. I then put on my PSGAT helmet and kevlar gloves. I then sat under the shooting bench, and placed the .44 Blackhawk on top of it, and let rip. Hey, I didn't want a new part in my hair if things did not go as expected. LOL. But all was well. This round really barks, and the muzzle flash at nighttime is truely amazing. And at 3000 feet per second you should see what it does to milk jugs filled with water. They explode like a stick of dynamite went off in them.

Hey Kiddy, is that a family portrait? If so, I think your hair was on fire.

Clearly there are posters here who are afraid of taking issue with the pro-gun members.
Yeah, sometimes the truth just hurts. And most realize that they have no facts to back them up, only feelings. And some - unlike you - just don't like to have their hat handed to them, by those who truely understanded the issue.
And BTW, isn't it a violation of board policy to post PRIVATE messages? I sure am glad I never sent you any.
just what the hell do i have to do to get my wife to understand that i do not welcome these type of visits?
one elder made several calls to her asking when would be a good time to come by for a visit, yet, when they (plural) get to my home, it's me their primarily interested in talking to.
hell....i didn't ask for a visit and have told them on more than one occasion that i'm entirely satisfied with my life as it is and that if or when i need any assistance from them that i will call them?
"I've found that being in the middle of cleaning my rifle and .45 works even better."

Hah, that's a good one. Do you have a collection of gun-related songs to clean them by?
Fife and Drum is always good. But I have found that having the movie Red Dawn on in the background really freaks them out. LOL.
