  An Atheist asserts a disbelief in a God(s) and/or the supernatural.
  
  An Agnostic leaves room for the possibility that those things may exist.

  I respectfully disagree Parli. Another broader definition of atheist leaves room for belief in the possibility of the existence of God, simply stating that no real evidence exists to support such belief.

  Technically, you are right nvgnbk. However, we agnostics sometimes tend to be a little more open to the possibility than atheism tends to allow for. I used to consider myself atheist for the reasons you mentioned, but I felt it to be a bit too confining.

  i tried to shorten it as much as possible.. my family belonged to a baptist church and i was baptized in that church when i was 8 years old.

  i sincerely believed in jesus and the bible then and still do now.

  New Stupid Assembly Rules

  i have heard on this discussion board numerous rules that apply to upcoming a$$emblies.

  some are designed to stop people from meeting the opposite sex; others, to make sure everyone is always ready to recruit new members into the scam.

  i heard that some km inserts have been urging those whose congregation has cleaning assignments to sit in the section that they are assigned to clean.

  This is what I heard. Don't quote this rumor as gospel because it was started by a brother years
  ago - The WTS negotiates for the use of these facilities. The stadium owners want to
  sell food, but WTS insists that their people bring their own (or years back that they ate meals
  provided to them). "There's no need for opening your vendors. You wouldn't make any money."

  We all know that they would make their money, but WTS would lose some control. For no other
  reason than unity at all conventions, they can't let vendors sell at some buildings. To prove that
  vendors wouldn't make money, they put in a hard fast rule not to use vending machines. The rule
  is enforced at all conventions. I remember years back that this was in force for cold soda machines.

  In short- You can't buy Snickers from a machine because that proves that nobody would buy
  hot dogs and sodas from a walking vendor.

  OTWO, I heard the same thing.

  i recently wrote a letter to every family member i could find an address to which exposed the wt org as the group of fools they actually are!

  interesting thing is that not one letter was sent to my home congregation by anyone and the letter circulated to almost every family member i have; so instead of turning me in as i suspected they would do, they are talking about it openly and distributing it to all family members-even ones i couldn't find an address to.

  i'm winning this war!

  i have been reading this board for about 4 years.

  after 38 years of being a baptized jehovah's witness, i did some research on the internet and found enough evidence to quit.

  that was 4 years ago and i am so much happier now.

  Questions about Dating a Former Jehovah's Witness

  It really depends, Rich. Personally, I felt I was better off finding someone who has never had the jw experience. Probably, at first, because I wanted to distance myself as much from the jw mess as possible. In hindsight, I would say it was a good decision, because I have gained insight as to how "normal" people deal with life, by having that close relationship with my, (now wife). In your case, it may be different, inasmuch as you may not have as much of a need for a non-jw "sounding board", the way I did. If I remember correctly, you spent at least some of your life outside the org. before you were in, so that may not be as much as a priority with you.

  OTOH, just as using this site is theraputic and beneficial to getting over the jw hangover, a good fellow ex-jw may very well work out to be worth at least dating. Keep in mind, commitments are NOT required.

  Will the WTS ever show a decrease in publishers?

  the world wide jw publishers increased by only 1.6% in recent years, so it is only a matter of time until the wts will have to start showing a decrease in publishers.

  here are some reasons why.

  1. many young jw are 'rebellng' against wts authority and are becoming just like mini satans according to a recent wt article.

  I sometimes wonder if the expansion in the third world will actually hasten their demise. If you think about it, where will the money come from? Certainly not the third world. With numbers, (and donations), dropping off in the more developed countries, any real expansion, (expense), in the third world would only contribute towards financial hardship for the WTS. Numbers won't help them here.
