Lost friends and musing
by Lostandfound insitting listening to some very evocative music, rachmaninov, my mind wandered across 4 decades of friendships and laughter in the borg, friiends now faded to memories.
the time in "the ministry" just after a co visit when he had urged us to knock more persistently at doors instead of quiet taps so we did not disturb anyone.
i was with someone and showing off how loud i could knock and firmly attacked the large brass door knocker in the centre of the door.

I ask the question: ARE JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES simply IDEOLOGUES?
by Terry in1. an ideologue is only interested in their own view of the world to the exclusion of fresh ideas or counter arguments.. 2. an ideologue is never satisfied with the personal opinions of others because they want to convert others to their own opinions.
3. an ideologue cannot compromise because everything is black and white.
if you continue to disagree they must label you as an enemy.

Reaching Someone on the Human Level
by done4good inprior to these last few days, it has been a few years since i posted here.
i was, for the most part, able to move on quite effectively from my jw experience, (from about the age of 5 to 33), so after about 2 or 3 years, i have mostly just read here as a lurker for the past 5 years or so.
it is time to contribute again.. recently, over the last 7 months, i have been through an ordeal involving some dear jw friends of mine.

Anybody ever do this?:
by Trippin2962 ini read through the various threads here and often think of how i used to think being a jw.
when i read through the thread about "holidays and birthdays" it kind of took me back to my first time coming to xjw sites.
i use to think that all you guys were evil and influenced by the devil.

Why People "Fly from Facts"
by cappytan ingood article on the minds of our still in loved ones.
these experiments show that when peoples beliefs are threatened, they often take flight to a land where facts do not matter.
in scientific terms, their beliefs become less falsifiable because they can no longer be tested scientifically for verification or refutation.. http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/why-people-fly-from-facts/
