New ideas about heaven and hell are being suggested

A multitude of words about heaven and hell lies within the pages of the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the writings of Christianity's church fathers. But when Pope John Paul II chose a few to elaborate on in two recent addresses, he made headlines, even though he was merely drawing on current church teaching in his descriptions of the afterlife.

"The Pope drastically lowered the temperature of hell," crowed a report from the British newspaper, The Guardian. An July 29 article from Reuters News Service said: "Forget the flames and the devils with pitchforks. A week after telling the Roman Catholic faithful that heaven was not up in the clouds, Pope John Paul II said yesterday that hell was not a physical place either."

well guess what, so does the nwt.

Now how many people go to the bottom of the page to read in fine print, this is the shorter conclusion with no explanation?

This kind of dishonesty really irks me.

Were you Stalked or Chased After Once you Exited the JW's by Elders ?

i tried to fade off the map by moving 30 miles initially in 2004 after i exited in late 2003 .

the first several years they didn't bother me.

i ran into a elder from my former congregation in late 2005 in an antique store - he tried telling me i was wrong for stopping attending meetings.

Flipper this is certainly not the same as you have gone through as an adult, but I can tell you a story of stalking as a teenager.

My best friend through out my life invited me over, while her parents went on a short trip. (All Jw's) Her older sister was in charge....she was probably 18 or 19. Everything was prearranged and OK'd by all parents.

Everything was on the up and up supposedly, and it was.... until many late hours later. Suddenly it was THE party house.... but not until the wee late hours of the Night. A couple of guys "shot gunned' me, .....(blowing pot smoke into your mouth) yes, I wanted to try....but had never smoked it before. Hey it was the 70's and we were miserable JW teenagers.

Low and behold there were several elders driving by taking notes, etc. My father was called, showed up at the front door and shouted me down in the early morning. I marched downstairs higher than a kite for the first time in my life. He made me drive the family station wagon home following him on a Sunday morning. Dangerous, and crazy...but that's what happened. Not two hours later I had to have my hind end in a seat at the KH.

Well of course every elder had gotten wind of the party, and because I was an Elder's daughter, I was the only one there. In the back row barely able to keep my eyes open. The speaker, an elder aware of the situation, called on me from the platform to look up and read a scripture. Everyone else was asked to volunteer......but not me, oh no, I was to be made an example of during a talk on Sunday....not during a Watchtower study.

I was half asleep and couldn't find it, finally someone handed me a bible pointing out the scripture. It makes me sick to this day, all of it. How I stayed awake for another hour I'll never know.

I hated, hated being part of the JW's. They were nasty, tattling, Stalking sicko's.

If You Weren't In Rapt Attention What Did You Think About During The Meetings?

i used to think of leaving early.

at the end i started making excuses to leave (supposedly work related) so that i could just get out of there.

i wanted a drink!.

Tuesday nights (now gone)...Daydreamed about my boyfriend and would call him immediately after the study.

Thursday nights: draw little pictures in the corners of books that when you flip them quickly they look like cartoons in motion.

Sunday: counted and recounted the holes in the ceiling tile or checked out the new recruits.

Had to avoid the belt at all costs growing up. I learned to sit very still and quietly unless I was next to my brothers. Then we just irritated each other and got it when we arrived home.

We couldn't stand each other at the KH if seated next to each other. You know the elbow jab, foot kick, that escalated for 2 solid hours. Have you ever seen two siblings going at it silently never making a sound? Boy could it get nasty. Pinch here, stab there.

I think JW kids were pro's at this.

i was born in 1970 to third generation jehovah's witnesses.

like all those born in, i was brought up without hope or guidance for a life in this world.

instead of being taught to be self sufficient and confident, i was trained to obey my parents without question (ephesians 6:1).

Not a one in our KH, all seemed emasculated, pasty white in polyester suits with big plastic brief cases, and so close shaved you'd swear they were prepubescent. They had no sideburns and usually close to a buzz hair cut...it was weird. You've heard of Stepford wives?.....these were the JW version of men. OH THE HORROR. Not that they weren't nice people, but attractive in that state? Absolutely not.

Ugly Sisters

o.k i have noticed that most female jws are ugly.and by ugly i mean ugly.they won't work out,they are fat and won't go on a diet (some female teens won't even shave their legs),they neglect their appearance/body in general.any opinions?.

p.s many will eventually get fat after marriage.

It's funny, 90 percent of the girls in the hall I went to were gorgeous and dressed to the nines. We kept the elders on their toes, worrying about who was looking at who, etc. The guys in, ......not a one!. It was all the new guys studying that were the good looking ones. It was during the 70's so all attended in Jeans, long hair etc. Many of them were literal brothers and bringing friends all checking out the JW's at the same time.

Sunday's became pretty fun there for awhile!

Help with

Ynot...I had to laugh....I'd love to take a good long soak, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna do it where the guys have been showering, and where I have washed big 100 pound male Doberman dogs, (I don't care how much bleach is involved)! I haven't been able to take a bath in 15 years....it would probably do me a lot of good but somehow, I just can't bring my self to even consider soaking where all that activity has occured. There

is another bathroom with a separate shower, but no tub.

Everyone, It's just been one of those days, especially after enjoying the company of a Niece. She left early this morning and all day it has been building up about not having enough female company. I need to move on and take up some of the things I want to accomplish.

One of which is playing the guitar.....I still don't know what one to purchase. So if anyone has some advice I'd appreciate it. (Acoustic guitar)

Other than that, we all move on the best we can. It's what I'm trying to do, but some days are tougher than others and as my good friends above have stated......the testosterone can get pretty tiresome.

Sometimes girls just need to be with girls~
