  Definition of "education":

  the act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgment, and generally of preparing oneself or others intellectually for mature life. (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/education)

  Definition of "propaganda":

  The systematic propagation of a doctrine or cause or of information reflecting the views and interests of those advocating such a doctrine or cause. (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/propaganda)

  Or as accurately stated by the Society themselves:

  Education shows you how to think. Propaganda tells you what to think. (Awake! 2000 6/22 p. 9 Do Not Be a Victim of Propaganda!)

  I vote propaganist.

  A review of any Watchtower or Awake! will reveal simple formula to their propaganda:

  1. A common concern (war, health, suffering)
  2. Random quotes and statements of fact, generally non-confrontational and often lacking reference.
  3. A happy solution (paradise, bible wisdom)

  The articles do not present in-depth study of the problem nor do they try to reference various viewpoints.

  The articles are actually just identifying common problems, and foisting paradise as the fix-all.

  Any serious education of a "problem" would have to consider alternate opinions, politics, and positive attempts to solve.

  The Society just wants problems, so that recruits will buy their solution. That's propaganda, not education.

  Believer, Agnostic or Atheist?

  i am curious, what amount people on this board from their experiences of being a baptised & active jw and their subsequent exit from the jw org (for whatever reason or reasons) are now either agnostic, atheist or do some actually still believe in god?.

  jw doctrine teaches that the 1,000 years of christ corresponds to "judgment day," and everyone who has not already been judged will be resurrected from the dead.

  the exceptions would be those who died during the flood, the destruction of sodom and gomorrah, and a few odd individuals.

  but that's only the people living today.

  when you left relationships in your past, did you do something to harm the other person with words or actions?

  when you left jobs, did you bad mouth your employer with a hope of harming him/her financially?

  ok..many of you read what happened..our house was egged and so was my sisters car that was parked here, and "frosty" was attacked!!

  Its Time To Post!

  hello all: i have been lurking around this site for over two years.

  due to a recent post of someone claiming to be an elder (which has been removed) i have been motivated to post.

  i decided to take the advice of some of you here when i wrote about my situation.. i am married, but my wife is a die hard witness.

  despite me showing her mountains of evidence and her actually accepting it, she is regressing back into jw think.. this has happened since i stopped mentioning anything anti-jw.. now she thinks that my problems with jw's were just a phase because i am not bringing up the issue anymore.. i really want to leave this religion, but i can't do that without losing her.. many here i know are trapped and some are still serving as elders.

  i don't know how you do it, but i guess routine is routine.

  I am in the exact same situation.

  I have found great success pointing out minor things that I know will challenge my wife's view of the organisation.

  Such as the recent articles of headship in the January 15, 2007 Watchtower (cover articles and Questions from Readers, page 31). All I have to do is point at a particular sentence and let her take it from there.

  Also, any reference to the judgement of David's or Soloman's sins, such as featured in a recent WT study. Just lean over and finger a sentence during the meeting--then let it sink in.

  You will be pointing the way, but her mind and intelligence has to do the deconstruction.

  freeminds has a list of the pubs but not the letter references/abbreviations.

  does anyone have or know how i can get the whole list online somewhere?.

  Anyone with a WT CD has access to this info...although it is not easily exportable to a file.
