so as not to hijack the current "paul" thread, i'll comment here.
paul spoke about circumcision numerous times and even circumcised timothy.. not to make light of the topic, but i have always wondered, how did anyone know if someone else was circumcised???
i have been a jw my entire life and will honestly tell you that i don't know which brothers are circumcised and which are not.. i mean, did guys back then watch each other at the urinals or peek in the windows when someone was getting dressed?
Public baths were a very common feature of the Roman culture. It only stands to reason that many Jews living in Roman cities would adopt some of the customs of their neighbors, or at least there would be pressure to do so.
hey folks i made this set of videos i am especially proud of.
someone challenged me saying that i couldn't prove anything using the bible as evidence.
i said i could prove anything even that satan is the good guy and jehovah is the bad guy.
Nice job!
and not on love or holy spirit.. just wanted to share with you all....
Getting drunk on wine makes me sick. Several weeks ago I celebrated a friend's birthday by drinking beer. Normally, I stop at two or three, but he kept handing them to me. After the fifth or sixth one I was sick. Today, I bought a cheap bottle of rum and had some with Coke. I didn't get drunk, though.
Oh, and I smoked a pipe for the first time today! I bought a corn cob pipe and an ounce of tobacco from a shop in the local mall. It was alright.
i just noticed i've lost about 15 pounds and so i thought maybe now i'll actually try to lose the rest of this weight.
i have about 20 or 25 to get to where i was when i got married.
.
White Dove & creativhoney, I am a small boned man and not very muscular either, unfortunately. At one point about 5 years ago I did weigh 170 lbs. and I did look overweight for my size. Even so, 120 is probably too skinny even for me as I would like to put on some muscle at this point. I'm more interested in overall health and fitness than a particular number on a scale.

I lost weight over the past couple of years. At first it was gradual. I simply cut back on eating out, especially at lunch, and I cut out ice cream. Since January I have lost more weight by eating mostly healthy vegetarian foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and beans. I cut out soft drinks. I started walking and jogging regularly. I got down to about 120 lbs. (I'm about 5' 6".)
Over the last couple of months, however, I have gone off my diet and I've fallen out of my exercise routine. Actually, I'm not too concerned about the diet. I still eat healthy foods for the most part. I do want to get back to jogging regularly though. I have noticed a slight weight gain around my waist, which is where my body likes to store fat, but it is not too bad.
i still see evidence of intelligent design around me, but i don't believe everything a book tells me just because it claims to be inspired.
so i ask, as i look around at creations, both animal and human, that are all flawed: is it possible that our creator was imperfect?.
is it possible there was more than one creator?
This is an understandable dilemma. I read Michael Behe's book Darwin's Black Box many years ago. At the time it seemed to confirm my belief in an intelligent designer. However, I have since read more in-depth information about common descent and the processes involved in biological evolution. I have also read the rebuttals to many of Behe's arguments.
ok. (taking deep breath) i am finally at that point in my recovery where i am ready to look at evolution as more than a loose theory which is clearly disprovable by the fact that all the bones proving it could be in a coffin.
or, um, some illustration like that.. i feel like first i have to "unlearn" the jw teaching of evolution to learn what "real" evolution is.
then, learn about that and then see how i feel.

I would suggest that Georgiegirl take her time, because there are frauds on both sides, not to mention honest mistakes. I don't think it's really possible to do an "honest examination" on a furom like this.
I agree she should take her time. What I mean by "honest examination" is that I did in fact make a great effort to understand the very best of arguments from both sides of the issue. IMO, Behe still makes some convincing points, though I have also read and understand the rebuttals to his arguments. I recognize that scientists have a long way to go. They don't have all the answers. I also know that it can be difficult for lay persons to set aside preconceived ideas when confronted with emotionally charged material. For me, personally, the answers are no longer found with fundamentalist Christianity. Therefore, "science" based on its tenents no longer has merit to me. Nevertheless, if you find comfort with your beliefs, may you have peace.
