Dick e Lentz stated:
As I said before, all murders are the result of rejection of God. That is because God cherishes all life and desires that we cherish life just as much as He does. Murder is an example of what happens when a person turns their back on God and the things that God values.
Are you saying that you believe in God but not the bible? When you make a statement like this, I am left with the impression that you either haven't read the bible or have dismissed it entirely. I'm sure I won't be the only person to point out that there's a whole lot of God-approved killing going on in the "good book".
since i am recently out of the "truth", i still find that i have a couple of people that i really miss.
i have managed to get past the stage of obsessing about whether or not certain people still think/care about me.. but, every now and then i wonder about my (ex)best friend.
she was like a sister to me.
As an outsider, I found the "rules" very confusing when I was suddenly immersed in their world. After several months of being without my witness friend, I still miss him everyday. I know how badly things have turned out for him since we've split. Confession, disfellowshipping, eviction from his pioneer "friend's" apartment. I know he's hit new lows in his life and probably needs support now more than ever. I know there is little I can do though I desperately wish I could do something to help. I am always torn over how to best handle that situation. One of these days I hope to stop holding my breath and waiting. As much as I hate it, I know in my heart I'm still doing it. I think it's going to take a long time.
I don't base my friendships on arbitrary affiliations but...he does. So, I have to work on letting go so I can make room for people in my life who love me for who I am, not what group I'm in. Star on my belly or not, I'm a pretty damn good egg. (re: "The Sneetches" by Dr. Seuss)
i'd like to ask a serious question about passive agressive behavior and witnesses.
i know a variety of non-witnesses who are passive aggressive in their behavior so this is obviously something of a attitude that anyone can have.
but i was curious to find out if people think this behavior is common among witnesses?
Funny story, andi.
Thanks for the insights, folks.

Good points Dedalus. I don't really agree with O'Connors view myself but she's a good read and certainly a perfect foil for more simplistic morality writings.
this was just forwarded to me.. (we need more comets to help take all of the stupid people away from among us!).

This one gave me shivers. All I could think of was that the leaf our hero pioneer had been handling had already been "marked"... by a dog that had passed by earlier. Hence his frenzied puppy friend. Yuck. Hope Mr. Pioneer gave his hands a good washing!

yb92 227-8 - One day one of the pioneers wrote a sermon on a leaf with a ballpoint pen and carefully placed it right in the middle of a well-traveled roadway. He walked a short distance away and stood concealed among the trees. He waited, curious to see who would pick up the leaf. To his surprise a dog came wandering along the road and paused to sniff at the leaf. "I think the dog could read," said the pioneer humorously, "because he started barking at the leaf. The dog became excited and made so much noise that a hunter in the bush nearby thought the dog had a possum or a lizard trapped up a tree. The hunter ran to the scene only to discover the dog barking and pawing at the leaf. He pushed the dog aside and carefully picked up the leaf. He spent a few moments reading the sermon on the leaf and then just as carefully replaced the leaf-message in the middle of the road.

Have any of you read any Flannery O'Connor? Now, there's an interesting writer who also believes in God. However she puts a mean twist on "morality" writings. I'd highly recommend her writings- very entertaining.
Ever read any of her work, Mr. Lentz?

well in case you don't know in britian there is a government campain to make access available to the internet to every single person in britian within 5 years.. soon internet access will be wide spread via the tv without the need for a computer.. as i say thats bad news for the society.
It would make them false prophets, Henry, if they claimed they were speaking for God.
If, say, they claimed to be God's sole channel of communication on the earth for example. If they predicted dates that did not come to pass while claiming divine inspiration. I can think of a very good example of a false prophet. Can you?
