You beat me to it, Farkel! As soon as I saw the thread title, I thought of your essay.
ldrnomo, be sure to read this. It's a classic.
so what's the deal with this anyway?
did he not want man to know the difference between good and evil?
if he gave us free will wouldn't he want us to have all the knowledge we could so we could make a decision based on that knowledge?.

i always read h2o, randy's site and anything that might stay current.
i think it was h2o that said they were closing there but another site was opening and it was this one.. i'm curious how you got to find this place..
Ironically, my JW mom sent me scrambling to refute some dub doctrine or another a few years ago. I searched the web until I found this site.
Even more ironically, I now don't give a rat's ass about refuting her WT crap any longer. Time for that is long, long past.
people, another question from me.
i thank everyone in advance for their posts.. i know this is a difficult question, and perhaps one no one can answer.
but, let me post it anyways.
A divorced woman in her forties who stays in the WT can expect emotional and spiritual slavery for the rest of her life, which, if you believe in the "new world," would be forever.
A divorced woman in her forties who leaves the WT can expect to live the rest of her life as she chooses, with the whole world and its opportunities at her disposal.
i've actauly always celebrated it, my family could never see a reason not to.
champagne, posh frock and fancy resterant are normaly in order.... what about you?.
Going to bed early and sleeping soundly. Gets the new year off to a good start.
On New Year's Day, I make roast pork with sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, homemade dinner rolls and spice-raisin cake. Pork and cabbage eaten on Jan. 1 is said to bring good luck for the rest of the year.
hiya guys and gals.
im not trying to be self-righteous but i want to understand the thought process of someone who knows the origins of christmas, but starts celebrating it (putting up christmas tree, exchanging wrapped gifts; repeating merry christmas to everyone they see in the month of december)??
it seems very silly to me (imo) after knowing how and why christmas was created (to cater to pagans sun worship and convert to christianity)!!
DubR: Heck, im a ex-jw and i dont celebrate that holiday!
If you still believe in a god that condemns delighting little children, putting up a small tree, and giving to others, then you haven't really left the Watchtower yet.
Please try to answer the thread question next time. Im not new to knowledge.
Blondie is a treasure trove of knowledge on this site. But since you're relatively new here, I'll let it slide .... this time.
1. miss feminist .
this woman postulates that all the ills of society are orchestrated by men and the best thing a man can do to improve himself is cut off his testicles and grow a pair of ovaries.
she believes that women are angelic creatures who would make the world a utopia if only the male "patriarchy" would allow them to.
Glad you're holding up, Satanus. As with all comedy routines, you never know whether you'll shine like a star or fold like a dying camel.
hey, i want to google a topic...the only problem is that i know what its about but i can't figure out what keyword to google.
it has to do with those subconscious words that the watchtower throws into all their literature that influences the way jws read & agree with its contents..... examples:.
no doubt.
Try "weasel words"
my husband and i have been fading/disappearing for a few months now.
we haven't been to meetings in quite some time, but most of our family members live out of the area, so they don't know yet.
so with the spirit of joy that comes from newly exiting a doomsday cult, we have been celebrating all the holidays as well as my 5 year old's birthday (she turned 5 on december 2).
Ask her who's gossiping about you and why she is listening to it. Jehovah hates gossips, you know.
Don't be afraid, no matter how this turns out. You're doing the right thing for your children. That's the reason I left, too. My son is in his thirties now, happily married, with a young child about to celebrate his second Christmas.
mine is "silent night".
never get tired of listening to that one..
BluesBrother, you achieved what I thought was impossible -- a song by Dylan that I actually like !!!
I'm partial to Judy Garland's "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."
mine is "silent night".
never get tired of listening to that one..
dissed, can your parrot do the Tarzan "yodel"?
