my mother told me that only 87,000 got baptized last year.
it seems to me that more would have left then that.
I mean no disrespect to your mother or family, but they should be glad that you are not in prison or anything like that. A person's character is not defined by whether or not they attend meetings at the Kingdom Hall. The fact that you are a free thinker speaks a lot about you.

i haven't missed a memorial since i started attending over 50 years ago.
tonight i was expecting the hall to be jambed as usual.
i sat in the 5th row from the front and from where i sat, i could see 31 empty seats--there may have been more.
I didn't go this evening... but I can imagine that the attendance is down. The congregation that usually invites my family, usually meets in a large place. Tonight, they had the Memorial at the local Kingdom Hall instead.
i have blondie & irreverant coming to canada to visit for a few days!!!

i was thinking... does the members of the governing body participate in field service?
if these are men who are to take their place in heaven with jesus christ, then shouldn't they be the ones fearlessly leading the charge?
when jesus was here on earth, his disciples went on to preach about him long after jesus had died.
I remember when it was said in the meetings that after a time, the message of getting people to come to know about Jehovah will end, and the message of death will begin at a certain time. Interesting how they never pointed out just when that time would occur. I can just see it now, the R & F will be out telling people that they are going to die at the end of the system of things, and the GB will sit back in their posh little offices at the Society.

Blondie, I always enjoy reading your comments. They are so well thought out and researched. I remember you saying that you used to be at one of the Watchtower locations for awhile. It amazes me even to this very day as to how everything with the Watchtower Society is do as I say... not as I do.
I just find it interesting as how it is constantly talked about in congregations about going from door-to-door, yet, the society cannot follow their own rule. Even the GB find a way to exclude themselves from this activity.

When Jesus was here on earth, his disciples went on to preach about him long after Jesus had died. They've spent countless hours in preaching to everyone far and wide. So, shouldn't their example be one for all of the Anointed to follow? What excuse could the GB give to justify their not going from door-to-door on a daily basis?

i know that as a youngster, i felt pretty good about myself because i remained "faithful" and didn't eat birthday cake while everyone else was enjoying it.......i know of wives that came into the hall with a black eye "for jehovah" and were almost deified because of their "stand".

I can remember when I was a kid and in elementary school, and there would be a simple little Christmas activity in where we would exchange gifts in the class. I was not allowed to participate due to my (or should I say, my parent's belief) in not taking part in such events. The pain that I would feel from the other kids making fun of me was immense.
This was the usual for all holidays, birthdays, sporting events, and whatever else the Watchtower Society has deemed unworthy and worldly. I think that growing up as a Witness was persecution enough.

Very nice letter. Although they may not understand the truths that are mentioned in your letter, they certainly will label you as an apostate. Welcome to the club! The letter was very precise and directly to the point filled with excellent references in which they would not want to openly debate.
