My sister rules
by MuadDib ini went over to my parents' house for lunch today and played a game of cribbage with my younger sister.
my mom was at the sink washing vegetables or something, and she looked over and asked what the origin of cribbage was.
my sister, little devil that she is, looks back and says all innocently "oh, definitely pagan worship.

Return Visits (tm) -- something I'm thinking of doing
by merfi inmy little book, all organized into "town", "rural -- by township", and other towns is full of rvs.
i wasn't all that great at this, as i was not good at getting back to these people that i left stuff with, but i have a few.
what i'd like to do is go through my rv book and "call" on these people again, only this time with an apology and perhaps some tidbit of real 'truth' -- silentlambs, mexico/malawi etc.. anyone else ever feel like trying to 'right a wrong' or similar?.

Kick the tires and light the fire
by PopeOfEruke indoes anyone check the tdcj death row homepage?
it's eerily addictive..... http://www.tdcj.state.tx.us/stat/deathrow.htm.
i noticed they executed richard hinojosa a couple of weeks ago, found this news report.. he indicated to the prison warden that he had finished his statement, telling him, "kick the tires and light the fire.

Morally Bankrupt Blood Policy
by under_believer inin my usual didactic fashion, let's go through the logical steps here.. 1. the society allows witnesses to use many blood fractions: albumin for burn victims is an example.
these medical supplies come from the donated blood supply.. 2. the society forbids witnesses to donate blood.. 3. therefore, individual witnesses who accept treatment from the blood supply are hypocrites.. this is really a horrible situation.
i'm sure they felt up at brooklyn that they were becoming more liberal in relaxing the blood ban; in fact, they created a situation where any witness that accepts any of the arbitrarily allowed blood fractions is taking part in a horrible hypocrisy.

Interesting people met....
by Justice-One ini have met and shook hands with four famous people in my life so far; tom cruise, cher, (at the same bar) robert wagner, and bo gritz.
bo was nice enough to give me a photo.
i must say bo was the most interesting to talk to by a long shot.

Today's word is... hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia!
by under_believer inhexakosioihexekontahexaphobia: the fear of the number "666".
apparently it is common enough that someone felt the need to coin a new word for it.
the most amusing thing, of course, is that "666" might actually be a mistranslation.

Winston Churchill quote on justice
by under_believer inthe power of the executive to cast a man into prison without formulating any charge known to the law, and particularly to deny him the judgment of his peers, is in the highest degree odious, and the foundation of all totalitarian government whether nazi or communist.
~~winston churchill .
i don't have a lot of time to post today, but i wanted to share this churchill quote i found to resonate strongly in regards to the witness "judicial system.
