I think some people become so obsessed with the Watchtower that they lose sight of why they're fighting against it, perhaps it can become more about revenge than about helping people. These seem to be the ones who demand people DA imo, but then, I don't like to generalise.

When DA'd of DF'd ones give advice to DA...
by changeling inespecially if they are the militant, bitter type...are they wanting you to undergo the hardships they've been through?.
are they secretly jealous of those who have faded and have kept their family together?.
does misery want company?.

It's kind of funny that you can believe like they do and still be a 'non-believer'

Sero,
I wasn't criticising you for wanting to tell others of your opinions (I'll use that word, since you say atheism has nothing to do with beliefs) I don't mind if you continue to try to get people to stop, what is in your opinion 'believing in a mythical god' as I only see it as you sharing your opinion, (and by sharing, I don't mean forcing) and differing opinions make life interesting, and yes, some religious people can be forceful, but then so can some atheists in forcing opinions on other people, though I don't think it is true of the majority of either group, at least not where we live in the UK, even the Jehovah's Witnesses will usually leave the door when asked to. I do think you sometimes make a lot of generalisations about religious people. I'd be surprised to find out that most of the Christians, or religious of any persuasion, that you meet on a personal level in your day to day life actually bother you or try to force their opinions on you. -

'Unfortunately, they feel they have to 'share' it'
Serotonin, it's human nature to want to share things that people think is good. You've dedicated many of your posts on this board to debates with Christians, and I even read one comment about deconverting people. Why is this? Just my guess, so maybe I'm wrong, but you seem to think religious beliefs are a complete waste of time (or even a life?) and that an atheist lifestlye is best? Aren't you 'sharing' your beliefs because you think they're good, or, better? And that would be ok, 'cos that's a part of your human nature, but to criticise others for doing the same from a different perspective... seems contradictory to me. -

587/607 Question...
by deaconbluez inif the exile wasn't to be 70 years, how is jeremiah 29:10 explained by pro-587 folks?.
10 "for this is what jehovah has said, in accord with the fulfilling of seventy years at babylon i shall turn my attention to you people, and i will establish toward you my good word in bringing you back to this place.. .
also, if it truly was a 70-year period of servitude, and not exile, when was this 70 years served by other nations?.

Matthew 18:18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
I'd like to see an apologist explain how Jesus could have been given something in 1914 that he already had? -

"2011 and 2012 are showing up in everybody's chronology"
Everybody's?
The WTS will not set 2012 as a date for Armageddon, or any other date for that matter in the near future, it's still too near to 1975, still in too many people's memories. -

Actually PEC, even if you divide the religions into sects, Catholicism would still come out on top, and with more than 10%! The graph doesn't split other major religions into sects either, Muslims have sunni and shi'a for example.
Of course, having the most believers doesn't make it true, but it's still a fact that Christianity is the largest. -

AO:
Good posts. :) I agree that one doesn't need religion to connect to God, but I do think it can be used as a tool to help people connect to God. I think the problem comes when that religion is the very basis of that connection imo, as when the connection is made, it should be something personal and seperate from an organisation, any relationship built around a 'middle man' is doomed to failure. -

I agree with Cabasilas, it should be noted that every country/society that has attempted to get rid of religion have been some pretty evil empires. I also think it's unfair to ignore the good religion does, yes, it causes a lot of problems, but it helps a lot of people as well.
