I am posting this without reading any of the post's thus put forth. I do know that in one congregation that I was in that you could not, without any debate, even visit a church for a "garage sale". What I have found out is that the best deals come from this sort of "sale" but it was frowned upon because it was held in a church. Give me a break!

Churches...would a JW go
by KistByQpid inunder what (if any) circumstances would a jw go to a church?
is it the building itself or is it church services they have an aversion to?
can they go under circumstances that are not neccessarily considered "worship"?

20. Dirty dancing (now before you say that this isn't a disfellowshipping offense, you should see me dance. It has to be some kind of crime.)OK, so I have not "worked for a military base" but I am married to a man who does what I cannot disclose for the militery.
tyydyy, if I weren't so fat and if I weren't married we could have something going. LMFAO!!!

Do you make statements in the form of a question?
by Elsewhere inever notice how the wts rarely ever makes a clear statement?
they tend to phrase things in the form of a question allowing the reader to infer the "correct" answer.. i wonder if this is to sidestep responsibility.. .

It's called mind manipulation. If this is done in a court of law there would be an objection from the other side.

Contacting the WBTS through their site
by DazedAndConfused ini went to their official website today and skimmed their articles on child molestation and it made me a bit angry to say the least.
they briefly talked about going to the authorities but not once did they stress that it was something that should be done in every case.
i then clicked on the "contact us" link.

Thanks for all the positive responses. psssttt.....Dutchie, it was clever wasn't it?
GermanJW, when I wrote that I felt it should go to the authorities in every case I was mostly speaking about cases where it is a problem involving a child while the child is still a child. What an adult chooses to do is totally up to them. IMO, ALL cases should be taken to the authorities. Pedophiles should be taken off the street, so to speak, to save other children from the same fate as the ones that they preyed upon earlier.
SYN, I can think of much worse things to do with my time. But IMO, it will get read by someone and if enough people send little "notes", who knows, maybe it will wake someone up eventually. BTW, are we given only so much in the way of bandwidth? If so I better be careful. LOL
Edited for spelling.

They briefly talked about going to the authorities but not once did they stress that it was something that should be done in EVERY case. I then clicked on the "Contact Us" link. Of course it is only there so they can get your name and address so they can contact the congregation that has the territory you live in. So anyway, I got this bright idea to fill in the blanks, not with the info they wanted, but rather in those spaces I put in a question to them. I asked them why they did not stress going to the authorities EVER time it comes to the elders attention that abuse has occured and the perp admitted to it. Of course they can't answer me but someone will see it there. Maybe others can do this also. You have to watch the spaces because you run out of room so you have to go to the next space to continue. LOL, this felt good!

Joseph Alward are you ignoring me?
by stocwach inonce again you appear to selectively choose not to respond to legitimate rebuttals to your mumbo jumbo, just as you never responded to repeated efforts for you to reveal your letter to the wt society, although you were more than happy to provide a letter from the wt to you.
don't you realize how your credibility is affected by your cowardly actions?.

gweedo, I think that Joseph Al(whatever) does not respond to anyone who says anything directly to him. When I see a thread started by him I do not go to that thread. Initially I did but after a while I felt like we are a bug under a microscope for him. Like a lab rat. Joseph has an agenda that I don't totally understand but what I do know is that he is here to bait all of us.

It seems to me that in the early 80's, here in the US, we went to no windows. Of course we had a vivid example of why this happened. Apparently somewhere in France someone came in and placed a rather large "bookbag" similar to the ones that the elders carried. YOu know, the ones that homeless people would love to move into. Anyway, this was placed in the hall and a brother heard a ticking and he promptly picked it up and ran out the door and across the street to a Park across the street and flung it.....thus a great explosion, resulting in this particular brother being the one person "directed by Jehovah" as saing a whole congregation of faithful followers. *gag*

JW's are the slowest walkers in the world
by Unclepenn1 inthat's all i wanted to say.
you can always spot them by the 'less than 1/2 miles per hour' they stroll down the street.

yadirf, that is too funny.....but I don't believe a bit of it. Having experiences as both a publisher AND a pioneer I know the tricks that are played to increase time. And they weren't secrets either, they were talked about and used as much as possible.
For instance there was a sister in our congregation who, while not in service, drove so fast that everyone wore seatbelts (before they were a law) and constantly had to grab anything just to brace themselves. But in service.....she would go 5-10 mph under the speed limit and at every stop light or stop sign whe would do a dramatic 10 times back and forth look to make sure things were clear (although she hardly noticed them when not in service).
Or I loved to work with this other set of regular pioneers. They would ask if anyone has a call that is hard to find so we could start our time before going to the next town (20 minutes away) to do the "pioneer shuffle" throughout the territory. I have been in 4 different congregations, from one end of the US to the other, and it is not any different from one to the other.
However, in the case of a JW, oftentimes they spend their time walking unhurriedly between residences while engaged in thoughtful prayer, or simply thinking to themselves about how they might've better handled the situation at the door they had just left. Who ever meditates in a hurry, huh? Hence, their objective is not to see how many houses they can hit in a given hour, but how effective they can be in their Ministry.
This is one of the most laughable things I have seen in a long time. In all of my experiences in service, with pioneers or otherwise, there may have been one person that did anything remotely close to what you have written. -

Favorite food at Assemblies
by finnrot ini hated growing up as a witness.
i hated the boring ass meetings where you could hear a pin drop on the floor, i hated going door to door and i hated not being normal like the other kids.. but the one thing i liked was going to the assemlies at the oakland coliseum.
i would wander around and find other kids to goof around with.

Let me amend what I said in my last post. Yes, my dad could not stand chicken ala king. I did not rejoice in the fact it would make him sick, what I DID rejoice in was that he hated it so much we would have to go out for lunch.
