  I looked into Mormonism at one time. However, I could find no proof on which to base faith in that religion. There are many unanswered questions in Christianity, but at least I can find proof of prophecies written prior to their happening (ie: Juste one example - the oldest copy of the Book of Daniel is dated to 200 years BEFORE Christ, yet counts to the very day that he would appear in Jerusalem as the King of Jews) - NOONE could produce any evidence of this kind to support what was written in the Book of Mormon. There is no older scrolls, no golden tablets, no tangible proof.

  What I did find, however, is how similar these two religions are.

  Mormonism = WTBS

  1) Both organizations place themselves between man and God

  2) Both organziations require their followers to accept ALL teachings unquestionably

  3) Both organizations place numerous unbiblically based (therefore man made) rules and traditions on their followers

  4) Both organizations claim to be the ONLY mouthpiece of God here on earth

  5) Both organizations claim that the Bible contains errors, and in addition can not be interpreted without their organizational material

  6) Both organizations hold their own written material as equal (and sometimes above) the Bible

  7) Both organizations deny the diety of Jesus

  8) Both organziations treat women as a lower than man

  9) Both organizations keep their followers in control with the same guilt, controlling of information, and threat of expulsion

  I am generally a pretty easy going person - but on occasion someone really strikes a nerve with me and this time it's you QUANTUM..........

  I didn't like the pile of vomit I was living in before - what makes you think I'd want it back just because it's got new wrapping? It's still vomit.......it stinks and it's rotten.

  My wife just left for the tacoma dome conv.!

  well folks....my wife just left this morning to the wa convention in tacoma.

  i told her about the "new" book they will be giving her there...(she hates it when i know what she can expect at meetings or other things like this...thanks guys...;)....).

  anyone from here going to be there?...i told her to be nice to the apostates outside...some of they may be freinds of mine...lol.

  There's a convention here on the East side of Washington State (Kennewick) this weekend also. My mom is going (of course) and my brother just came into town to go with her. I am SOOOO relieved that I am not expected to attend.

  They did, however, guilt my 16 year old son into going on Sunday - I had fun teasing him about ways to stay awake - I even suggested that he sit in the "hearing impaired" section so no one could overhear his walkman I told him that if he really wanted out of it I'd make an excuse for him (like he had to work or something). I feel for him - it's so hard to be caught between the direction you want to go and the direction you're expected to go.

  I have thought about copying the UN letter and leaving with all of the "attendees" I see at the local restaurants - wouldn't that be fun?!! My God - I've turned into one of those weirdos we use to make fun of at the assembly (ha ha)

  More Than You "MAY" Know

  i thought that maybe some may want to see another side of the argument of god verses secularism / evolution verses creationism.

  im not interested in the fact that many have lost their religious fervor and become atheists or invented their own belief system, or still accept the bible but with a different twist.

  my intention is to make as strong of an argument as i can for the existence of a particular god, who i believe we all once knew and may be privileged to know again.

  Spare the rod and spoil the child?

  i saw a report on tv just now of how two baptist mininisters beat the living daylights out of some kid for not attending the correct bible class.

  the kid suffered kidney damage and the ministers have been arrested.

  this reminded me of how my jw brother used to take his boys out the back and beat them black and blue every time his patience ran out with them for not sitting still for 2+ hours.

  Man this brings back memories...I seen so many mothers bring their kids back to the bathroom & beat them for not sitting still, and the wooden spoons....yes, I remember those being a staple in their purses/book bags. I was raised in a very physically abusive house so these sights didn't really strike me as out of the ordinary back then - sad hu!

  How much of this still goes on? I've been out for 12 years so was curious.

  I have never thought of my kids as "mine" - instead, I consider them to belong to God and I'm just here as a caretaker to guide them through so they can learn and grow - that has helped me to keep a level head whenever I need to discipline them, or on those days when I've just HAD IT. It keeps the focus of any discipline on what lesson I need them to learn instead of how to control them. I rarely spank my kids, I find that other forms of discipline (time outs, talking, loosing privledges) work a lot better - but I have spanked them when it's something I want them to NEVER FORGET - like running out into the street without looking for cars.

  As for the "spare the rod, spoil the child" - Willy is right!

  Have you partaken?

  this sunday will be my first partaking of the bread and wine at communion.

  almost a year after having come away from the dubs and i'm just now feeling "safe" to partake.

  so for those of you who have experienced this already, what do i do if i drop the bread on the floor by accident?

  It was the JWs noddy teaching that first put doubts in us to start with and we're not part of that B.S.

  Yes!! It still amazes me at how strong a hold they had over my thoughts - 12 years later I am still struggling with some of the most simple things.

  ? I believe, I really do, that we should stand erect like a loved child and ask for what ever it is that we need.

  I like that mental picture - thanks!! I think that will help me.

  * T o serve and worship our Creator, the only true God, Jehovah, is the ultimate honour, more valuable and precious than all the money and possessions, status, etc in the world.

  * To be named after Jehovah our Father is a priveledge and we should be proud to called one of His Witnesses and never ever be ashamed or embarrassed. Besides, are so many other reasons to be ashamed and embarrassed

  * Even though we endure insults, lies, misunderstandings thrown at us and much more, we carry on serving Jehovah regardless. Even though we endure insults, lies, misunderstandings thrown at us by those that were once called our "family and friends" because a society of man-made rules tells them to, we carry on regardless.

  * We are the ONLY people on Ear th hated for serving our Creator. We are the most loathed people around , but we are loved and treasured by those that REALLY matter - Jehovah, Jesus His son, the 144,000 and the billions and billions of angels and our fellow brothers and sisters. So why worry what others think when we have all this love shown towards us?

  JW's always think they are the only ones suffering because of their faith - get REAL. 6,000+ Christians were killed worldwide in 2000 because of their faith, what about the missionaries in Afghanistan that were facing the death penalty for preaching the gospel? Oh yea, and those 6 million Jews - I guess they were really loved by everyone that's why they were exterminated. The only people that really loath JW's are those that have been hurt by them.

  * We are more courageous than postmen as we STILL knock on doors that have big dogs behind them!And you didn't learn the first time? One day I think I'll bite the next dog back! Lol....see how HE likes it!

  * We are healthier on average than non-Witnesses because we follow Jehovah's laws on how to think positively, how to feel i.e. stay calm hence avoid high blood pressure and heart attacks through stress and anger, how to protect ourselves from diseases (std's and smoking-related for example) and more hmm...guess they don't know about the statistics on depression and suicide. My dad was an ELDER and died from a massive heart-attack - too bad he didn't get to read her post first.

  * We are very fit - count the miles we walk every month in the minisitry!All 15 minutes of it
