What age for baptism?
by wozadummy in.
when i was a mormon i was baptised at age 8.. as witnesses some get baptised pretty close to this age.. when they face all those years ahead with so much of life to learn and understand how can it be right to come down so hard on young people who, when going thru puberty and beyond have to come to grips with all the feelings and mixed up thinking of youth and then fall short of the ideal and ,say ,fall in love with someone and have sex and then face a judicial commitee.. everyone is different and it's naturally easier for some young ones than for others due to alot of factors and keep on the straight and narrow.. but here is my opinion on things, simply put , jesus as a perfect man was not called upon to dedicate himself for baptism and full dedication to god till he was 30!.
is it not reasonable to expect the same from imperfect people led by sinful inclinations to make a mature decision when older at 30 instead of a teen or even a preteen and expect full control and even repentence?

WHY I CAN'T USE BIODIESEL
by wozadummy inin another topic here ethanol is being discussed and it made me think about car fuels, enviro stuff etc ,and because there is so little ethanol used where i live there is few options to source a cleaner fuel.
we have two cars and one runs on liquid petroleum gas (i've had cars on this for the past 20 years as i think of the lower emission levels and cheaper price).the other is my work car and is a 4wd dual cab ute with a 2.5litre diesel engine ,and is 3 years old now.
in the city there is a manufacturer of biodiesel but there are very few outlets and it is 50kilometres away.

30 years later I've grown a beard again
by wozadummy inthis is one thing that bugged me about "the lie" ,when they came down hard on men who had grown facial hair in the 8o's ( and womens adornment, clothes etc).
a ms at the time had a beard and grizzled about shaving it off but did after the talk at the assembly, he's an elder now but i wonder whether he chafes a bit at the taking away of ones personal freedom to grow something that god gave us men.. i never grew one when a jw for i was a drone i guess ,but with alot of small things over the years this did irritate me and seemed just a way the gov body controlled our lives by taking away a natural thing in life .it's not like men would have beaded, braided or let it grow to look like a feral and be unclean and untidy.. and we have paul saying in 1 cor 10 that he became all things to others to gain them to christ - well what about beards ?
is there anything more natural?

Forgiveness the JW way -is'nt right!
by wozadummy infor many years it troubled me the way the watchtower handled the matter of forgiveness.. from the bible we gain the insight that jehovah forgives ,and is always ready to forgive, people who approach him repentently .. but it always seemed to me that when articles were commenting on how we should always be ready to forgive others ,we had to extend it beyond even what jehovah does and try to make ourselves forgive even those that expressed no remorse over what they did to us :.
to keep peace.
to move ahead .

Anyone thought of this?
by wozadummy inwhen one of the 144k dies they are spoken of , especially in jw literature ,as having finished their earthly course.
why don't they say they've gone to heaven?
could it be that they don't want to commit to saying this in case it is later found that the person has committed a serious sin they did'nt confess to while alive?

John Mellencamp & Sheryl Crow -a wonderful night!
by wozadummy inmy woife and i went to the best concert last night at the adelaide entertainment centre.
did'nt go to many things like that when we were jw as it's just not something done here by jw's unless you keep it quiet .
i love all sorts of music and even make some of my own.

JW WEDDINGS - MORAL?
by wozadummy injust an observation - how many couples do you think have not had any form of sexual conduct before getting married in a kingdom hall?.
i think not that many, and when i have alluded to this with young couples over the years they usually look as guilty as hell if this is hinted at.. so if this is the case how can god be blessing their marraiges and in turn the organization if this is common?.

I just thought of this
by wozadummy inif the wts really wanted to preach the word and to as many nationalities as possible ,why don't they publish their literature in ,say ,pdf format for people to read when they can?
but silly me ,there's no money in that and no way to use co-ercion
