if you are a former jw, or just one who is interested enough in the cult to spend time here on jwd, i emplore you to accept a 'bible study' with jehovah's witnesses when they next call and offer.
by so doing, and having of course a full knowledge of the doctrines and practices they employ, you have a special opportunity!
you can use the study for the following;.
If you find a butterfly cocoon and you try, with the best of intention, to help the little lady out of her cocoon by prying it open, she will be unable to fly. Her lone struggle against the cocoon to free herself strengthens her so that when she has done so, her wings will spread to their full breadth and she will then be as free as destiny has intended her to be.
That's a perfect and beautiful analogy. A few words, perhaps. I do this with my brother but only when he prods. Like a contraction or braxton hicks for the soul. But only the individual can individuate.
I have come to believe that some souls are just not quite ready to live outside of the confines of self-imposed bondage. But when they are ready, there is no doubt, no going back.
do you feel there was a "gap" between those who had more materially and those families or individuals who had less?.
example: did those who had "less" materially not get invited to private homes for get togethers as frequently or not at all?.
thanks for your input.. juni .
Sadly true enough.
I lived on both ends of the spectrum. When I was very young, my father came in gung-ho and rose through the ranks fairly quickly finally winding up an Elder and a P.O. and helping out where the need was great in the area. However, he was lucky enough to have completed college first in a highly employable and decent paying field. So, we were, for a time "haves". Parties, get togethers both hosted and invited to all over the place.
Then after my dad left the organization and later "us", mom fell apart (afterall, all she'd ever planned on and trained for was being a good and dutiful wife to a rising star), she never adjusted...sadly because she was/is one of the most intelligent, well-read persons I've ever known. "my mother never know her own worth"....to quote joy luck club. Short story long, we were impoverished after that and never---N-E-V-E-R got invited anywhere (unless the occasional pity invite). We were the pariahs, basically---the worst: "orphans and widows", which no matter how much lip service the org gives to the admonitions of Isaiah to the contrary are pariahs in the organization.
It was so humiliating to go to a meeting after a huge get together and everyone talking about it in hushed and not so hushed tones.
Oh well. I never really fit in anyway, no matter which end of the spectrum.
to fill you in and explain my post....... i was raised as a jw but left (not baptised) at 16. i started studying again at 24ish and was quickly baptised and got disfellowshipped aged about 32ish.
whilst i was active as a jw i socialised plenty, but it did not involve copious amounts of drink or drugs.
during my times out i have very very occasionally smoked a little dope and have been drunk more often but by no means frequently.
I have voiced this type of sentiment to Daystar, who has been out far longer than I have. I have a similar feeling at times, though not quite the same. I just get a feeling sometimes (when I'm around heavy heavy partying) of being very far from home...and yet, not knowing what home is. It's weird. It's not judgement because I do not care what people do to/with their bodies (and I myself indulge and over indulge occasionally). Nor is it fear--some of the heaviest partiers I've been around are the sweetest, gentlest fragile human beings I've ever met. It's just that, that feeling of being far away from home. I don't know how else to explain it.
Then again, I felt more a "stranger in a strange land" with the witnesses than I ever do with *gasp* the world. So, perhaps I am destined to walk between worlds.
i was converted in the early 1980's.. warlock .
Pretty much born in--parents converted before I was 1 y.o.
true or false.....#1:jehovah`s witness`s consider themselves to be a unique group of people on the planet.....#2:in most case`s,you can identify a jehovah`s witness.
("a dub knows a dub").....#3:jwd is a wonderfull place for most of us here..because..no one else would understand us.....#4:all dubs(jw`s)regardless of status, are welcome here!!
:x-dubs/active dubs/inactive dubs/df-dubs/da-dubs/faded dubs/joined back up to fade dub`s/dub kids.....my question is:"do "jehovah`s witness`s "(regardless of status),have thier own culture?...outlaw
I would say yes. Especially for those who grew up in and therefore were hardwired with certain ideas and "ways". Probably just slightly moreso than any human group forms its own set ways of being, thinking, etc (because of the ultra-cloistered nature of the group). Witness why we here feel that certain "bond" that we cannot share with others.
Also, they sublimated any racial/ethnic cultural identity supplanting it with their doctrines, ideas and identity--you were to identify with being a witness before being even human.
It's not good, it's not bad, it just is.
men in what they see..............true or false?
Your premise is entirely true, imo....but with needed extrapolation:
Evolutionary drives dictate that women must "listen" for what will make a potential specimen a good hunter/protector/provider to herself and any offspring that could issue from a union. As we humans raise our young for a comparatively long period of time, it is simply more advantageous for the female to seek a mate who will be there for the long-haul--though she can do it by herself, it takes precious time/resources spent in the male role when she could be performing more of the nurturing role.
Men are very visually driven because their drive is to seek a specimen that will make good breeding material. Physical attraction comes down to how good and therefore "mateable" will this specimen make my offspring therefore, potentially placing my genes in a better "bargaining" position for as far into the future as possible. Males are also driven to inseminate as often and with as various partners as possible...again to get his genes as far into the future and dominant as possible.
All of this "animal" stuff, imo is tempered with our higher selves to make a fairly suitable concoction that we know as the human sexual experience. We are not just our bodies, thankfully but dayum, evolution makes me hot! LOL!!

(clam here is the promised fluff thread - but you know it will probably degenerate into an intellectual discussion about pagan festivals - like my posts so often do!
so how will you all be honoring the goddess astarte or was it istoreth?
will you be devouring chocolate eggs - with their heavy pagan influences?
It won't be me, but I'm just sayin'...

Whaddaya think, Crumpy? A good spanking would be just the thing to welcome you to Texas!

another thread with a subject set up as a teaser trailing an ellipsis.
i refuse to be manipulated!
tell us what it's regarding in the subject so we can know whether we even need to open it.
Baby, you know better....the crux of everything is sex-or more exactly, Desire. Without that primal drive, men would still living in caves (maybe they would've invented satellite TV and remotes but we would not have many amenities), nothing would get done.
Desire.

Aaah yes, out in the woods, underneath the waning albeit bright moon, much props will be given to the Lord and Lady as we play out that eternal embrace.
And that, kids, is Easter, at the BridgyDay household after the children have been placed in bed laden with chocolate bunnies and the surface parts of the celebration.
