I didn't see the media release but I just viewed the two videos they have on the jw-media.org website. All I can say is EL OH EL. Those bound volumes must be 25 years old.

I just finished reading the WT Media release....
by VioletAnai inwhile most of it boils my blood....i do agree that parents have to take a greater responsibility and view everyone as a potential monster to their child...it's the only way to protect them short of supergluing their arse to yer hip!
because pedophiles hide so well in society and the warning signs can be a little cloudy....it's better to be safe than sorry.. parents need to be alert to the people in the community, the people they associate with the most...be it religion, school, neighbours, the sitter....a parent can not afford to be lack in any area of their childs life...even their extra-ciricular activities opens them up to dangers beyond belief!
parents be viligent and if anything should happen to your child despite your hardest efforts...remember...put your feelings aside (your self-loathing etc and the 'what ifs'), and nurture your child to the full extent....even if it is painful for you.. a woman i once knew refused to support her child because she couldn't emotionally face the consequences....only focusing on her own pain and not factoring in what is going thru her childs mind and heart as he slowly died inside.

Some Musings
by Farkel ini sent it to kent.
the only thing that kept me going was the thought of what my suicide would do to my children for the rest of their lives.
i finally got the courage to seek help for that depression, and im fine now.. alanf and gedanken (two of my good friends) helped me out, and i am most grateful for that.

Farkel,
You may not remember but you gave me quite a bit of good advice when I was exiting the JWs. I will always be grateful.
And, I have the archives of the old H2O on 4 CD-ROMs. If you ever want copies just let me know.

A Question For Bill Bowen
by anid1 inhi, i just have a quick question.
on another board a girl stepped forward and said that her story will be airing on dateline.
she said that you had uncovered her story of her husband abusing someone and it being hid by the wt.. now, i can't go into all the details because it would make this post very long but i just have a feeling this is a jehovah's witness trying to make this look like a farce because her story changes like you wouldn't believe.

WTS Hypocrisy Digging Their Own Grave WT 6/15/02
by Reborn2002 ini received the 6/15/02 watchtower in the mail today.. for those that do not know, 2005 is the new predicted end date for this "system of things.".

El Oh El.
Yeah, when you study the significance of the book of 1st Corinthians, remember that St. Paul wasn't writing to the Corinthians, he was writing to the anointed remmant purged from Babylonish teachings in 1919!
Oh, and Leviticus chapter 17? Not really meant for the Jews! Its real meaning is towards 21st century medical doctors who deal with Jehovah's Witnesses!
Ah yes, and when Revelation says the 7 letters went to seven congregations, it REALLY means they were to be preserved for anointed elders in Brooklyn, NY!
I wonder, how many times has the Watchtower not followed its own advice when it quotes from such "so-called Bible scholars."

Is Greg Stafford Disfellowshiped?
by the follower ini remember someone saying that an anouncement was going to be made at greg's kingdom hall about him being disfellowshiped tonight.. does anyone know if that happened?

Old Hippie,
You might be sick of the rumours, but Greg had to know they'd be flying.

WANTING to Believe in God
by dobby inhas anyone had this experience?.
after letting go of my beliefs as a jw, i felt the only alternative was to be atheist.
or maybe it is just logical to there is no god when i am only listening to my mind and not my heart.

Unclepenn, I hate to seem disrespectful, but why are you arguing with Liberty when you are making his points for him?

CO talk
by Fatal Error inwe had our second co talk yesterday, the topic of which was loyalty, thinly veiled as to one another, but dripping with threats toward those who might go against the society.. after the usual drivel about the society being god's organisation, and appreciating their junk food (as an aside, has anyone actually vomitted up any of this "food"??
just wondering...), i was rudely dragged out of my slumber by the co's harsh declaration that we should shun all those who slipped away from the thruth, as they inactivity is a bad influence.
he went on to heap the blame on them, "if they feel this way, then they should expect their due", "they bring shunning onto themselves" etc.... has it always been this way?
-
Cygnus
The CO's harsh comments reinforces my belief that 98% of Witnesses do not want to shun ANYBODY except wicked evildoers, and that they need to be threatened in order to comply with and behave in line with such directives.

I told my dad this morning.........
by lv4fer inhe asked if i was going to the circuit assembly this weekend.
he asked why.
i just said after a long pause, dad it's not the truth (you have to understand that i'm the one who preached to this man and got him in the truth) the conversation lasted about 5 minutes with him saying well who else teaches the right thing, you have to understand, jehovah has to have an organization.

I think the Bible DOES teach that God/Jesus had consistently used an organized association/brotherhood as his unique own. And the Bible is quite candid regarding the mistakes, failures, and shortcomings of those who were his chosen prophets and evangelists.
The whole argument that JWs _cannot_ be God's organization because they make mistakes is hogwash. If God never needed an organization or people that associated with each other with understandings of what that association required, then why bother with the Bible at all?

Ten Year Ex-JW Anniversary
by Amazing infriday, may 1st, 1992, i drove my kids to the motel we stayed at for the circuit assembly in woodburn, oregon.
i told them that i was not going to attend the assembly at all.
on saturday morning, may 2nd, i dropped them off at the front of the assembly hall, making this the very first day where i ceased going to meetings.. driving away from woodburn, i headed to the beach at lincoln city, oregon where i took time to walk a long beach - alone - enjoying the wind breeze through my hair - the sand move between my toes - the sea gulls chanting and squeaking - the steady roll of the waves - the gentle roaring sound as they cascaded onto the shore and an occasional sip of scotch.. it was the first day of the rest of my life ... the beginning of having my life back ... the beginning of personal freedom of the mind and heart.. today, ten years later - i still can feel the fresh breeze and the sand ... and i have no regrets, no doubt, no fear ... i need not look back anymore.
