Advice from a Christian robot.
by expatbrit inare you struggling with an important decision in your life and you don't know what the theological consequences are?
then come on over and bring your question to the robot-adviser.
it plugs your question into the same, but seemingly universal bible verses every time.

Masonry????
by apostate man ini have been reading some things about free masonry and how some say russell was a mason.
i have been skeptical up to this point but i am now finding more information that says this may be true.. question: .
why in the world would an organization that teaches against idols and flags etc., use a pyramid at the grave of its founder????

: Why in the world would an organization that teaches against idols and flags etc., use a pyramid at the grave of its founder????
First, the pyramid is not over Russell's grave.
Secondly, where is your evidence that the WTS put that pyramid there? Yes, I know "Watch Tower Society" is written on the thing, but did you ever consider that perhaps someone else was actually responsible for putting the pyramid there, not the Society?
: Russell was fascinated with pyramids and this is how he came up with the year 1914.
Russell was fascinated with the _Great Pyramid_, and he used its measurements to _cooberate_ the calculations he admittedly had _borrowed_ from Nelson Barbour many years before his Pyramid investigations in order to arrive at the 1914 date.
Do more research, and don't believe everything you read on anti-JW websites. It is also noteworthy that Russell said and wrote on several different occasions that he was rather umfamiliar and ignorant of Masonic rituals, customs, and behavior. Why? Because he was never a Mason.

What is your favorite kind of pickle?
And, do pickles go bad if you open the container and don't refrigerate them?

WindRider needs your love and support
by Skeptic inwindrider is seriously depressed today, dangerously so.
she really needs your support, friendship and encouragement.
she would have posted on the board herself, but her system is down.

Rich,
We're sort of known each other for quite some time now. I would better express my feelings if I knew what was going on, but since you chose not to tell us publicly, at least let Windrider know I always smile when I happen across one of her posts.

Religion: The Bane of Humanity
by Adam inso yesterday i showed the receptionist some comments that i had posted on a different board.
the gist of the post was that i thought god's punnishment of the entire human race for the actions of one person, namely adam, was a gross miscarrage of justice.
also that bible tells us of this act, then says that he is a god of love, contradicting it's self.

I remember when I used to worry about such things. Trying at first as a Christian to figure out God's plan, then learning about atheism and skepticism and vigorously arguing against and denying that God has any plans at all for us.
Now it just doesn't matter to me. And that, I believe, is my final destiny in this search for purpose/enlightenment/TRUTH (LOL). I live a good life, I don't hurt people, I don't like death and suffering but I accept it, and I do the best I can. I especially like making (honestly!) and spending money (on stuff I like, not stuff I need). ;-)
The existence of God/Jehovah/Allah/GreatSpirit etc. is entirely unimportant to me. And if I go to hell for such rebelliousness against God's theocratic design, so be it. See you there too, Adam. ;-)

Questions for Evolutionists
by RWC init appears that alot of people on this board believe in evolution (either by that name or by another) as the explanation for the origins of life.
to those people i would sincerely ask the following:.
1. where did plants come from?.
-
Cygnus
I used to care about this subject. As if it really matters. The absolute SECOND somebody mentions "fossils" or "intelligent design" I just want to get violent.
Surely, there is A LOT about origins and evolution that we still aren't sure about, and may never be. That does not change the fact that there is no god. If DNA or plants or or humans anything else were specially created, then such were created by something completely unconcerned today, and thus it/Him/whatever is totally irrelevant.
The question is not whether life evolved and is evolving, but whether, what are you doing with your life as you know it?

LOGICAL - Why are you always so sad, fed up &
by Celtic inlonely?
ever since i've come to this board, you take every opportunity possible to imform everyone else how sad you are, do you ever give encouragement back to others, or have you always been like this, doing your best to stay as miserable as can be?.
you know theres lots of people here who would like to help you, given the chance, in fact i can't even be bothered to give you any encouragement this time, cos all you do every time you see someone in chat is tell them how lonely and sad you are.

but a great sport
logical, if you have Morpheus or Kazaa, download the song "Jehovah Made This Joint For You" by the New Radicals. it will definitely cheer you up.
