i haven't seen this topic on here so i thought i'd.... hmmm, maybe it's because it's just too disturbing?
to me, the scene in saving private ryan - the two soldiers in the small upstairs room fighting hand to hand to the death (by stabbing).
i think that is the most disturbing thing i've seen on screen and there were plenty just in that film alone.
Ack I forgot that scene in Braveheart. I've never actually been able to watch that scene through. The one where his woman dies feels awful too.
My favorite scene from that movie, is the one where Robert the Bruce loses his helmet and is revealed to have betrayed Will Wallace. I think both of those guys did a great job if conveying the whole story in a moment without saying a word.

I'll never forget one time a little neighbor friend, (why I was allowed to have her over I don't know) came over and for some reason she took off her St. Christopher medal. She forgot to take it with her, and that night of course the demon activity in my room was doubled, and I just knew it was that darn thing. But I was too afraid to move to get it out of there!
Oh and inclines. I remember being out in service when I was about 6, and having my "good" shoes on which were kinda slippery on the bottom. I was so scared to walk up the sloped driveways, that I crawled :-(

I assume you were both witnesses in your youth? I was, and I'm telling you I would lay there in bed as still as I could be, sweating, sure that there were demons all over the place. I had some floral curtains that were evil when the moon shone through them.

Yea, I've thought of it like that. Except I know some Republican Atheists, and so sometimes I think of it as the Two-Ness.

I would prefer a word other than God. It's been used.

Oooohhhh I like it. I always somehow feel crummy when I say I'm an atheist. I shouldn't, but it seems to imply lack of heart or something. The furthest thing from the truth.
what would the world be like?.
for example, today orthodox jews and christians don't kill witches and homosexuals because they can't legally.. but if things were as their god decreed in the bible, they'd be dead.. islam, when it has enough power to enforce it's laws, summarily kills and dismembers those that offend allah.. so if you're unhappy with all the gays and druggies and atheists and witches and hippies, are you secretly longing for the day when your deity of choice exterminates them?.
