i'll provide scans if anyone is interested.. i will leave it up to more experienced analysts to examine the reasons for specific changes , but just a few brief observations for now:.
p32 box - "they were completely exonerated" changed to "charges against them were dropped" - interesting change of terminology for the 1918 watchtower eight.
I had a question regarding the change about the 8 leaders being "exonerated" in 1919.
On page 56 of "Apocalypse Delayed" Penton cites A.H. McMillan who quotes Judge Ward saying the "judgement is reversed." What does this mean? If judgement was reversed, isn't that an exoneration? I'm not defending the WT leaders. I'm just trying to understand this so I can explain it if necessary. Thanks!

I came across an article from the Los Angeles Times in 1982: "Defectors Face 'Witness' Wrath" that discusses the larger number of baptisms from 1971-1981 (1.71 million) versus the net increase in publishers (approx 736,000) for the same time period.

To answer your second question...I believe the wording is the same between the Oct 8 1968 Awake! issue and the bound volume for that year. I've never checked that but I'd be surprised if they would have changed anything.
However, I think this issue from 1968 and the October 8, 1966 issue of Awake! are some of the reaons the WT CD-ROM for Awake! only goes back to 1970. (It goes back to 1950 for the Watchtower.) The 1966 Awake! issue has even stronger statements about 1975. See a scan of the article "How Much Longer Will It Be?" from that issue, especially pages 19-20 at:

Thank you, Leolaia for those quotes! The difference between the Aid and Insight volumes on the timing of Seth's birth was something I'd never caught before.
So, we're 31 years since 1975. If Adam was alone in the garden for over 30 years (you know, naming all the earth's animals was no easy task), then that would explain why he said when Eve showed up: "This is at last bone of my bones..."

I remember that as 1975 passed the "Friends" got anxious. At circuit assemblies we were told that the delay was due to the time difference between Adam and Eve's creation. Earlier it was assumed that there was hardly any time difference but now we were told that there must have been an interval of time between Adam's creation and Eve's. (The 7th "creative day" did not begin until after Eve had been created.) Once that time interval (weeks, months, probably not years) passed, then the 7th creative day (meaning the Millennium) should begin. I remember hearing that for a couple of years after the 1975 disappointment. Did that ever make it into print? Or, was that just something said verbally at assemblies? Anyone know?

I remember I was studying with the JWs at this time and going out door-to-door with this Awake! Of course, I bought the whole thing hook, line and sinker at the time.
I remember that when this magazine came out the Los Angeles Times did an article on this issue. I believe that William Cetnar (who lived in Orange County at the time) was the impetus behind the article. I remember reading the article and thinking it was part of Satan's strategy against the truth since it seemed well written against what we were teaching the people. (How deceived I was!) Perhaps someone living in the LA area might be able to find the article from the LA Times from that era. My guess the author of the article was either John Dart, Russell Chandler or William Farr. Might be interesting to read again.
