What's wrong with Lava Lamps????
p.s. I prefer the real thing when it comes to the tree. Nothing like the smell of a Douglas Fir!

on the the back of awake june22 is a short little story!.
last year, in maryland, u.s.a, a man politely refused the wt and awake magazines.his younger, however asked if she could have them, and the father said that she could.the two cleaning their car and putting trash in a nearby trash container[in other words a dumpster].
concerned that the magazines might be discarded, the witness who offered them decided to return later[in other words late at night/early morning] and check the container[container is such a nice word...but in reality its called a dumpster...].
After I left home and my meeting attendance was sucky - my parents broke into my apartment to snoop around.
All growing up I knew my mom snooped through my stuff. When I graduated high school and was working full time, pioneering and paying rent - I asked that they stop going through my things, listening in on my calls and opening my mail. They said I was under their roof and they were responsible to Jehovah for me.
BTW - they never found anything. In 19 years they never found a single thing. Do you think they trust me? Nah.
Years later I'm married, inactive, a mother myself and when they come to visit I catch them snooping.
*Sigh* I think it's a sickness.

is it normal for those that refuse blood to not know their blood type?
that is usually one of the first things that the hospital lets parents know about their kids and when you go for any blood work it is on the top of the sheet.
i have a very rare blood type and i questioned my boyfriend about his for future knowlege when we have kids.
My hubby doesn't know his blood type. He wasn't a JW. I asked his mom if she knew & she didn't.
I told him to go give blood, they'll tell him.
I didn't mean to come off like I was talking down to you. I just didn't know how much you knew & was trying to be helpful.

Even if your partner is RH-, they still recommend having the RhoGam shots (once during pregnancy, and once within 72 hours of the baby being born)

when i started associating in the late 1960s the jws were very sociable and had frequent fun events.
here are some examples of the kinds of events we enjoyed, why they existed, and then the reason they were taken away:.
sports: being involved in school or professional sports was frowned upon, so the brothers in the hall would arrange for sports for every other weekend.
Gosh, during the 80's (in Pennsylvania) we used to have yearly talent shows and plays. It was all JW's. We did Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs (edited so no magical powers existed) we had ballet recitals. One year there was a spoof of a ballet class & all the elders in our hall wore tutus and danced on stage. (Several videos are out there of this) It was a riot. We would rent out the cafeteria of the local elementary school. They had a stage and there was coffee and desserts. Everyone was invited (even surrounding congregations) It seemed every other year we had a guy leaving for Bethel - so the event was combined with a going away party.
After about 8 years of this - the Society got wind of all this and shut it down. For the record, not one judicial committee was formed over these events.
We also had yearly congregation picnics at Green Lane Park and the entire congregation would come. This also was shut down.
Every year about 8 - 10 families (with tons of kids) would go camping in the Pocono's we would have the Watchtower study on Sundays. There was always at least 4 or 5 elders. This too was shut down.
Talk about sucking the life out of us.
Have I mentioned lately how much I hate them?
