i'm wondering if the xjw who drives every weekday morning in rush hour traffic on 684 through white plains, westchester county ny is on this board.

he drives his car in the middle lane aprox.

10 miles below speed limit (gotta love it) with anti-jw signs all over his car.. an admirer,.

i don't know if this was discussed here before, but, what is the most ignorant comment you ever heard an elder say.

i once had an elder say to me that my brother, who was at the time fighting in vietnam will be destroyed and killed over in 'nam because he did not accept "jehovah"!!!!

i promptly told him to go "f" himself.

I also had two miscarriages and my JW family used this to try to get me to come back to the 'truth'.

The cruelist thing said to me by an elder was said by my father. I was engaged to be married (a non-witness) I hadn't been to a meeting in years but hadn't been reproved or DF'd or anything. I was no longer living anywhere near the KH that I grew up in. My JW family was supporting my marriage and right before I got married backed out. My dad said that Jehovah had been showing them signs that their decision to support my marriage was wrong. His main example? My younger kid brother was diagnosed with a very serious disease during my engagement. They said that this was because they were supporting my marriage to an unbeliever and that I brought this upon the family.

The urinals -- unveiled to the sounds of ABBA tribute band Bjorn Again singing the 1970s pop classic, "Waterloo" -- were designed by the council and purpose-built by Swedish firm Danfo.

"Stand-up," doorless urinals are a common sight in France, but are a first for Britain and will be on trial for a year at two locations, a council spokeswoman said.

Like their French counterparts, they are not fully enclosed, with a user's back visible to passersby. "People will be able to see your back, but nothing else," she said.

The Council had been using mobile urinals in locations around the West End at weekends, but the new installations were the first permanent, on-street, plumbed-in public conveniences in London, she said.

"As far as we are aware they are the only ones of their kind in Britain," she added.

How Long???

i have been drifting for about 1 1/2 years now and was hoping that in a year or two i would have distanced myself enough from the org.

that i can actually start living my life exactly the way i want to...aka celebrating the holidays by putting lights on the house, not having to tell my daughter not to say anything about going trick or treating, getting birthday presents or going to cheerleader camp.

but i read some posts in the disfellowhiping thread started by somebody where people have been inactive for 3 years and are still disfellowhiped!

I was going to ask this same question. I've been out for 10 years. My family is all in & they still try to catch me with not-so-subtle questions about whether we celebrate. (I married a non-witness 7+ years ago) I did make a promise to my hubby that our children would never pay the price for my upbringing. They would never have to lie, or feel bad about our lives. The issue hasn't come up (she's under 2) but when it does - she won't have to tell half-truths or lie.

The deceit and living a double life end with me. I refuse to subject my innocent child to the ridiculous standards of the WTS.

I am no longer living in the territory of the last hall I went to. My family moved from that area 8 years ago. We have witnesses in our neighborhood & I am pretty sure they know about me. During one of my parents visits they went to Patterson for a tour. They met witnesses in my area & told me "they are right down the road if you ever want to study again".

Our American flag has been flying out front for weeks. The trick-or-treaters are welcome in our home. There will be a turkey on THURSDAY for Thanksgiving. There will be a large brightly decorated tree in our window for a whole month. If they want to spy they can.

The control and mind games have to end. They don't have any power over me. Yes, my family is still in and I want them in my life - but at what price? My daughter? Never.
