Do not Disassociate, Anull your baptism
by jwfacts ini am now a jedi, so trust me on this.. .
why dis-associate, you are just playing by the wts rules?
how can you dis-associate anyway, you never thought you were baptised as a watchtower society member, you thought your dedication was to god, so why formally disassociate from something you did not formally join?

They will not read your letter. They will not discuss it. They will not think about it.
This is what I have heard to be the case. I remember a talk was once given that instructed the con. to not read letters written by JW's that include any points that refute "bible" teachings and to immedietly discard them. After the first line, sounds to me you'd be screwed. But I would probably try having my baptism annulled if I was angry and fed up enough to the point where I just did not care anymore. I was a minor at that time and all I remember during the review of the questions was to "smile and nod and maybe mom will finally get off my back"

Best, worst and weirdest assembly halls...
by Jamelle ina recent thread about the experience of attending the 1969 convention as a young child really started me thinking.
i have several fuzzy memories of assemblies i attended as very young child.
this got me onto the track of the rather odd, uncomfortable or even really cool buildings i have visited over the years as a result of those conventions.. so my questions to everyone are:.

My favorite assembly hall has to be the newly purchased convention hall in West Palm Beach. Of course when I was attending it was still being renovated and I don't think the WT had purchased the building yet. But its fun to walk the grounds and chat with the brothers who act all goody goody but always slip them your number on the last day. I've always thought it was fun to go out to eat during the noon break and all the witneses slow down traffic when there crossing the streets. But I HATE the woman's bathrooms! The lines are long, they stink so bad and there's never ever any enough toilet paper!

Good for you Hawk! By the way..
So far, I haven't heard anything from any witnesses I did send it to. I don't expect that I will either
Don't mean to burst your bubble but correct me if I'm wrong here but I remember hearing that any D'A letter that includes any ref. to "apostasy" the JW's are instructed to disregard immedietly.

Thanks for including that article DogPatch. I will say a prayer to Jesus tonight which sounds so foreign to me but then again can all 6 billion people on the planet be wrong?

Look I don't have much, I have just enough for books for next semester but I did have a little set aside for going to dinner and whatnot that I want to contribute. This means so much more than any night out. But I've never done pay pal before. Is that a site I have to go to? Why the email address then. Someone explain please.

Did You Lead A "Double Life"?
by minimus ini believe jehovah's witnesses are trained to learn how to live a double life.
we were trained to use subterfuge with teachers, the law, doctors and the courts.
we were trained in "theocratic strategy" .
-

I led three lives.
Ha! Good one! I feel the same way. But I'm with collegegirl..I still live that life now and yeah..it helps when ya wanna multi-task It does get hard sometimes. I have been trained to lie so well since I was 14 and sometimes I don't really know who I am anymore.

It REALLY does hurt

There is also really deep seated conditioning to defend the organization and not to do anything that would tarnish it's name. It goes down to a much more subconscious level than one might expect and is extremly hard to root out.
My thoughts exactly. Its like having a terrible mother but she's still your mother no matter how bad she treated you and you'd be damned to let someone speak bad about you.

Hello from LadyLee
by Scully in.
i hadn't seen ladylee posting the last few days - it's not like her to leave without letting us know that she's going away, and i was getting worried, so i called her this morning.. she called me back... she's fine, but her computer is not.
it had a major crash a few days ago, and she's been trying to get it up and running ever since.. let's make sure she knows that she's missed!

Insight Book on CD-ROM under CHRONOLOGY different from print version.
by ithinkisee inpage 453 (vol 1) of the printed books states:
a babylonian clay tablet is helpful for connecting babylonian chronology with biblical chronology.
tebet, night of the 14th, two and a half double hours [five hours] at night before morning [in the latter part of the night], the disc of the moon was eclipsed; the whole course visible; over the southern and northern part the eclipse reached.

Evidently implies "maybe" as opposed to it being a true fact. They use words like that all the time including" possibly, apparently etc
