Kismet, You bring up some good points, and I have to agree with you on much of what you say.
However, I still contend that the nastiest, throw-a-rock-and-run retoric comes from folks who keep under wraps. Friday's ongoing homosexuality thread-from-Hell is an prime example - I think his behavior there would never be matched by anyone operating in the light of day.
I don't want to discount how important anonymity is for many, and would never want to imply that people should HAVE to reveal who they are if they don't want to. But maintaining that anonymity also comes with a price, and that is the fact that others don't REALLY know if the person they are dealing with is on the level with them.
