The Anointed Apostate: the Remarkable Sister Pettifog
by TerryWalstrom in(on the anniversary of my jw best friend's death, i've reached into my archive to replay this incident in his honor)
the remarkable sister *pettifog*.
this morning i arrived on my bicycle at the local starbucks early and took up a seat at the outdoor table in the fresh air.. that’s when it happened--a group of 3 older ladies at one of the other tables outside rose to leave and one of them walked over to my table and spoke directly to me.

This Forum. Has it changed? For the better or for the worse? Or not a at all?
by ThomasCovenant inwhen i post i try to imagine that i am at a social gathering or sometimes in someone's house as a dinner guest.
that way it is easier to follow the community guidelines and posting rules set out on the site at the bottom of the page.
i wouldn't want to make a fool of myself in public.

But when I forget to imagine that scenario, and realise instead that I'm fairly anonymous behind a screen and armed only with my keyboard, it is easy to slip up.

Is New Zealand right to ban military style guns?
by ThomasCovenant inin response to the recent terrorist attack in new zealand their government is proposing to ban semi automatic and military style weaponry.. do you agree with this idea?.
would they be better off allowing more of these weapons instead?.
would it be better to perhaps allow more of the muslim community for example, to be armed with semi automatic guns to protect themselves at their places of worship?.

Could I just say that I haven't blamed any body or any weapons for any thing.
I was asking questions.

So I'm guessing from some of the postings that more guns is the better response and certainly not banning more guns.
To take things to the extreme, would it be a better world if everyone was armed to the teeth or if everyone had no guns.
Again to the extreme, when it was just the nuclear USSR v the nuclear West we had an uneasy peace. If it had only been one nation, either the USA or the USSR, having a nuclear arsenal, would it have been a safer world? Probably not.
Will it be a better planet if every nation or political faction were to have their own nuclear arsenal?
I'm not being sarcastic in my posting.
It's genuinely interesting to hear differing views, although it does get a bit tedious with the overly aggressive and belittling defence or otherwise of the opposing views.

Awake! No. 2 2018 on marriage
by john.prestor inso i'm sitting here at the laundromat waiting for the bus, there's a kingdom hall across the street and somebody must come in here regularly cause i found about five different magazines hanging out on a counter by the door and three different jw.org business cards pinned to a bulletin board.
i picked up an awake!
for the hell of it, i could use a good laugh, and i ran across this right away in the article '12 secrets of successful families', yeah, you can probably tell where this is going:.

Reading what you quoted I think it was
'allow yourself to be WRONG'
not 'allow yourself to be wrongED'.
There is a big difference to be fair.
