this is my first post on here so i apologize that it is like an essay!.
my husband and i are currently 'fading out' of the truth.
we stopped preaching in may 2016 and limited meeting attendance in january 2017 and stopped completely in june 2017. my main reason for this was my whole life i have been doing things to please others, even getting baptized to please my mum.
The brutality of having been in a cult and then wanting to leave it ,
is that if you intend to contInue on the road of 'leaving the truth' then in years to come all the friends 'in the truth' that you now have will no longer be your friends in the future.
So you may as well stop wasting any more time worrying about them and start living a new life.

@ThomasCovenant - Do you personally have the opinion that Jehovah's Witnesses handle child sexual abuse allegations in a way that protects children to the best of human abilities? If not, where do you think they fall short? If you do, please highlight the ways in which they best serve children in these cases through their policies.

1) In my opinion as a layman, no I don't think they do.
2) I suppose I think they fall short by not reporting to the authorities
3) I don't.

disclaimer: i do not approve or condone any acts of violence that result in the deaths of innocent persons.. alright.. let me just say that i have no idea what motivated the latest mass shooting, nor do i condone those actions.
i am, however, beginning to understand why some individuals may feel that violence is their only choice, although i do not approve of that choice.. when i read topics on this forum that concern religion and legalism, topics that drone on and on, getting nowhere, i feel extremely frustrated.
yes, religions are given certain freedoms, but many are obviously going beyond the spirit that motivated the separation of church and state.
If I woke up tomorrow and everyone who believed in god had 'disappeared', and every vestige of religion had also 'disappeared', would I think the world had become a better place overnight?

I remember I went through a brief phase of after my Dad nagging me to ''pre study' the Watchtower 'study',
underlining every single word of the whole 'study' article. Just to prove a point.
I very rarely answered at the meetings, certainly not the latter years,
but I so wanted to put my hand up and then read out the whole paragraph in answer to the question, just after the Watchtower reader had just read it.

only just noticed on the jw borg home page that matt 24:14 is quoted with a full stop instead of a comma after the word earth then the closing quotation marks.. isn't that incorrect?.
Regardless of the omission of punctuation in early manuscripts
shouldn't the JW Borg have it as
''This good news of the Kingdom will be preached in all the earth''. (Period/full stop after the quote)
as opposed to
''This good news of the Kingdom will be preached in all the earth.'' (Implying that is a full sentence being quoted)

it was where he showed how ludicrous it was to flit between solar days lunar months a solar day for a 360 day year but those years are 365 to come up with 1914. i have tried searching but struggled.

Ancient Air
What was the air like 4,600 years ago? That is what scientists are hoping to discover when they penetrate an underground chamber on the southwest side of the Great Pyramid of Giza. The 96-foot-long (29 m) chamber, covered by 4- to 6-foot-thick (1.2 to 1.8 m) limestone slabs, is thought to house a second ancient funerary boat for the “soul” of Pharaoh Cheops. The first—only 12 feet (3.7 m) away from the current site—was discovered in 1954. That wooden vessel, 130 feet (40 m) in length and excellently preserved, is on display in a museum built for it. The two pits, some 30 feet (9 m) deep and covered with 10 feet (3 m) of rubble, escaped the ravages of time and tomb robbers. It is expected that the second will be like the first—hermetically sealed by gypsum cement, thus trapping the ancient air. Space-age technology will be used to penetrate the chamber without introducing outside air. This will enable the scientists to measure particularly the carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide in the interior air, compare them with present levels, and perhaps throw some light on the question of whether the earth is really warming up as is believed by some scientists.
