  Apostates - blood on their hands?

  don't you think the witness leaders would have given up the blood doctrine and 1914 by now had not apostates made such big things of them?

  haven't they been painted into a bit of a corner where, if they tried to adjust things on blood now, everyone would come down on them like a ton of bricks?

  if apostates were not so vigilant in watching the witnesses' every move, perhaps the governing body would have tried to drop the dubious doctrines by the back door, like so many others that they have discarded when they did not feel to closely watched (organ transplants, for example).

  I think I am just confused by the objective here. For example, if you were to redesign the organization and make some changes to the underlying policies and/or theological

  doctrines, what would those changes be? I am curious as to whether you have issues with the social policies of the witnesses or with the underlying theological doctrines?

  Personally, there are no changes that could be made that would change my positions but I am very interested in your position about potential "reform" in the WTS.

  i am researching 1975 and i was curious to ask any that served as elder back then in the wtbts ever issue a directive to the congregations to stop or discourage believers from selling their property, cashing out retirements, early marriage, quiting jobs, etc., etc.................. thanks

  I just dont get it....even if they became slightly more mainstream, none of this changes the basic facts that the WTS has been promoting false prophecies and end-dates since 1879! None of it changes the fact that thousands of innocent children have died through their demented policies on vaccines, organ transplants and transfusions..none of it changes the reprehensible "2 witness" policy towards child abuse. Making some minor cosmetic alterations doesnt whitewash the past anymore than the catholic church should be forgiven for its past atrocities. What are you looking for precisely, "Jehovah's Witnesses Lite" ? I also dont see the evidence they were going more liberal in the 60's, 70's. Those were decades when they were publishing some of their wackiest articles from what I have read.

  richierich posted something about how odd witness kids parties were and it reminded me of being reinstated.

  i never quite fit when i got back in.

  i would sit in the car groups and think...are these people for real?

  Never been through it myself but I remember several re-instatement cases and recall a certain frostiness about the way the

  reinstated person was treated for a long time afterwards. Having said that, the reinstated person was clearly "changed" in some

  undefinable way and usually had this beaten down, tired sadness about them which may have coloured peoples interactions with them.

  It was all so sad, on all levels.

  i just got home from a dub "party".

  it was very tame, seemed to be choreographed, and i was just shocked.. for one thing, everyone there was my age or older.

  these people are young adults.. yet, it felt like the jr. high dance.

  don't get me wrong here.

  nor will i deny that there are men and women of science who do not work for money or fame or glory, but rather for "truth", and even for the good of the human race and this planet.. scientists are supposed to be unbiased in their research using the universally accepted "scientific method", being completely objective, and working in the sterile environment of the laboratory, removed from outside contamination and social influence.

  they themselves are supposed to approach a subject or investigation with patience and open-mindedness, without prejudice or pre-conceived notions.

  I am truly sorry, but you have made some gross over-generalizations in your essay, particularly pertaining to how scientific

  funding is established and controlled by governmental agencies. I would direct you to the CIHR or NSERC websites for more

  information about the process by which funding decisions are made for particular research projects (at least the Canadian

  system).

  Do you not find it an odd coincidence that we share 98.9 % of our genome with chimpanzees? Now why would god do that? To deliberately trick us? WHat of the fossil evidence

  of australopithecines, homo erectus, ergaster, robustus? All hoaxes created by god to trick us into accepting the theory of evolution? Come on people, read more science, I promise you will like it !
