i have smoked, i quit, but now enjoy alternatives such as e-cigs, snus, and even the gum.

i find that nicotine has a nice mental enhancement, has several medical benefits and actually may help individuals to relax and focus.

now the question is this, why does the wts have such a fetish with nicotine?

...so if someone did not SMOKE, but took the gum or even liquid form of nicotine would they be DF'd in today's cong????

I have smoked, I quit, but now enjoy alternatives such as e-cigs, snus, and even the gum. I find that nicotine has a nice mental enhancement, has several medical benefits and actually may help individuals to relax and focus. Now the question is this, why does the WTS have such a fetish with nicotine? I'm not talking SMOKING but using the drug itself? Caffeine is very similar to nicotine, and yet that "drug" is approved for WTS usage. When I was in I saw many who were obese, is that not a sin and cause for disease/body damage? What about prescription drugs, why are those kosher - because they are scripts??? Has anyone definitively found out WHY "nicotine", not so much smoking, is a DF'ing offense??????

Nicotine is actually good for you. So if you chew the gum for medical enhancement they will DF you. Where is the logic in that??? How can you defile your body from nicotine when other "drugs" such as caffeine are close mimickers???? Makes no sense at all... I luvs the snus... :)

as some of you know, i was disfellowshipped six years ago, but it wasn't until june 2010 that i made up my mind never to return to the wts.

Try calling him, maybe he is embarassed to call you. Feel the conversation out, don't push anything. In the end you must realize one thing, you probably will not remain friends and you should think about finding new friends who don't carry the heavy baggage associated with JW's...

me ex elder, pioneer was very active but am trying to fade.

one elder knows how i feel and i would not talk to anyone but him.

i miss most meetings now.

They tried pulling this shit on me when I faded. Elders asked my wife why I removed myself, and no longer came to meetings. I specifically told her that if she were to meet with the elders that she should not answer questions on my behalf, and explain that to them. I also advised her that it was not appropriate for only ONE elder to meet with her and that if that happened request the elder to have someone else present or she would kindly dismiss herself. It eventually got to the point where I told my wife, in our conversations, that I would sue the elders personally and individually for slander and liable if they DF'd me for any reason. About two weeks later, after this conversation, the elders approached her and wanted to know what was going on, and that they were thinking of DF'ing me because "I no longer believed" - she made it quite clear that I had every intention of taking them to civil court if they DF'd me and that I would ruin them financially. After that conversation they told her that they would not pursue the issue. Eventually my wife saw the hypocrisy and left. Been free for several years now!!!!!!

my father who has never been a jw had a visit from a brother in a congo in his territory.

he usually comes over at least one time a week and places magazines and shoots the breeze with him about different issues.

this last visit though left a sour taste with him.

Got my own wine kit from a local brew shop...

took me four hours to take the grapes off the stems.

Black Sheep - the hydrometer reading at the beginning was about 15% alcohol. I currently have the lid on the fermenter with the water lock valve. It has been bubbling away. According to the instructions I am supposed to pull the lid twice a day and stir the contents, which I have been doing (keeping the lid off to a minimum and making sure that the lid is pushed down to push the air out when fastening the lid back on. I usually will see the bubbles kick in again within a few seconds. I believe that the hydrometer was 1.13. It does have a nice smell, though its kind of a sickly sweet methane smell... how long to run it dry? The instructions said 7 days, is that about right? I assume that the bubbles will stop... also can I use a sanitized painters filter/sock? I have to go back to the brew shop and may check to see what they have. I don't think I have the sodium metabisulfite - is that the campden tabs or something different? Also how much would I add? Thanks again!

greetings,this might seem like a mad thread, but given that end of the world via god scenarios have been about since jesus time and all failed shouldn't we all get locked and loaded with our privately bought m60's and m2 browning's and look to the sky and defend ourselves against the real threat alien's!!!

Read the ancient texts, who really were the gods? Funny how every culture says that the "gods" will return... aliens may not be that far from the truth.
