  some people believe that the gb of the jws are a bunch of well meaning but naive and ignorant individuals who do not really mean to cause the harm they do cause in the r & f and they may not even be aware of it.

  i personally disagree with that and believe that everything they do is based on shrewd cold blooded calculations that are meant to promote their interests, that they sold their souls to the devil as it were in exchange of a huge intoxicating power trip.

  they are fully aware of the harm they cause but their conscience is singed beyond all sensitivity.

  The policy used to be.......anyone who "carried the banner" for the disfellowshipped one...in other words, supported the Dfed ones wrongdoing, or defied the elders decision to disfellowship the wrongdoer.........could be also disfellowshipped. Now that apostasy is prevelant, many are being questioned by two elders if they are seen in company with a DFed one. I'm not exactly sure of current policy as far as action being taken.

  Yes, if you are in company with a df person, and keep doing this, you probably will be df-ed yourself. The only exceptions is if it is in bussiness. For example your boss or college is df-ed. The other exception is close family members (children, parents, 'fleshly' brother/sisters). In both cases it is not allowed to talk about spititual things.
  Sorry can't quote directly. All wt things are stowed far away...

  As for 1975......there are countless recorded tapes you can buy or download that are talks given by Fred Franz himself, and many other CO's such as Floyd Kite and other prominate dubs........who can testify that's it's bullshit that the society didn't promote 1975 as the year for Armaggedon.

  I do not know eactly what they said afterwards about 1975. In publications they always talked about the 6000 years of human history etc. I think they never said that armageddon would come. They implied it though. Of course later they could claim that they never said it. Of course they knew what was going on in the organisation. They probably believed also in 1975 i think, the GB members.
  Anyway this is kind of a half lie or so. What exactly did they say afterwards?

  My wife and I remember well the coundown the CO's would give in our hall ...counting down the year, month, that would usher in the 7000 year day that would begin the 1000 year reign of Christ. ( he would actually look at his watch while doing this)

  I was still young, I remember only some things. I know some stupid dubs sold there house for a low price because it did not matter anyway, and went pioneering. My father an elder told (also from stage) that it would be very unlickely it would come because nobody knows the hour... (this famous text). It did not made him populair, they said. nobody knows the hour, but we know the year...

  Danny, the GB has nothing to do with tearing families apart or with people dying for refusing blood? That's according to their legalistic propaganda they are the ones influencing the dubs to follow those actions under pain of excommunication if they don't obey. How can they claim no involvement?

  I did not say they have nothing to do with this. Family members are allowed to have communication and friendship etc with df membes of the family. Some do this, some don't for some reason. By the way, I do not like the shunning at all, and do not think it is good. I think just for any international law or so, they are probably not guilty.
  
  
  
  I wouldnot know any case actually. They have 'misquoted', were wrong in many things, etc. Witheld the truth. But outright lies? Can you give some examples? (I do not say they didn't, nor defending them, just like to know) Danny

  sometimes people ridicule us for that.

  Oh yes it is a serious question, although I admin that those things are not the same. And you can not speak from a cult IMHO.

  But see the similarities:

  Mindcontrol in usa is very much done. How many time you hear things like: 'Made in America'. We love american, because we are american. All tv shows etc, full of it.

  the them and us thoughs. We good, they = not us, bad. most americans (usa) think themselves a lot better then others. Are vey proud to be an amercian.

  Buzzwords: terriorism, september 11, war on terrorism etc.

  People die for lies. Blood issue versus, 'weapons of mass destruction'

  freedom of thought? see cold war anti socialism.

  i see some of you have been hurt or feel mislead with the organization.

  even if you dont like the organization and choose not to be apart of it, i can see where you come from.

  what i dont understand is why some of you take out your frustrations on god.

  This is quite an understatement....

  I think you can talk about God if you are not a publisher. No one can tell you what to tell to other people. And no one can tell you what to think. (well, they can try...) but please keep thinking for yourself.

  Why not read the bible yourself (you are doing this) use independant sources and tell people what you find. Is not that real studding?

  What Jesus would have done is not always what we should do, now should we?

  And yes there are many who left the organisation because they found out the truth about the bible, that is it not much more then a nice story book. I am one of them.

  Visiting JW parents... should i be evil?

  my family and i will be visitng my parents this weekend.

  they do not shun us and are in their mid 60's.

  while i'd get satisfaction out of sharing some of the information i've discovered here i don't know that this would be the best thing for them - their whole life and friends are the local jw congregation.

  I do have exactly the same problem. I posted this a few days ago.

  In my opinion it is not worth it. It would not make them happier to confront them very hard.

  But it is good if they learn to think for themselves (if they are not doing so already). Try to make them more dependent on there own thoughts. I would suggest not to discuss the bitter things, but more positive but still questionable things.

  For example: ask them about how they feel that the lion will eat grass like a lamb. Maybe they can reason about this, and come to a different conclusion the the GB.Just a first step in learning to think...

  The Divine Name - Lost on Purpose?

  the jws make it out to be some big theory that there was a conspiracy to remove the divine name from scripture.

  what i don't understand is - if "jehovah" can surely preserve the bible down through the ages, then he certainly could have made sure his name was still there also.. it is also pretty clear that the divine name did not appear in the greek scriptures.. could it be possible that god let his name disappear on purpose so that when jesus came along there wouldn't be any confusion?.

  i was googling trying to find some references but couldn't find much.

  this is actual a good question. If the name Jehovah was so important he would not have allowed it to be lost.

  (of course a dub would say it is not lost it is Jehovah,a nd the purpose of it is to make distinction between us and 'them' (them != us).
