the following comparison of pharisees and jehovah's witnesses was included in my letter of disassociation.
it will also be featured in the next witchtower issue.
but since it is a serious topic, i wanted to post it here:.
Very well done.

sure the wt deceived you with its claim to be god's channel but why for so many is there a subsequent loss of faith in god ?
it puzzles me and makes me wonder why they were jw's in the first place..
I did believe in the beginning, but as I progressed through the Organization, I began questioning things which then led to more questions. When I finally had answers for most of them, I not only came to the conclusion that the Society was a product of several mens imagination, but I also concluded that every religious belief system was basically the same. I wanted to be sure that I did not leave the Witnesses for another faith that might be more believable, yet equally untrue.
When you stop and really think about it, a being who has the power and omnipotece to create the entire universe surely would have the intelligence and confidence not to act like a spoiled child and go zapping folks because they made a statue and prayed to Baal. Or go and destroy most of earths life via a flood because some men were following their carnal desires.
However, like Alltimejeff, I do not try to convert one who seems to be happy in their religious persuasion if it seems to being them comfort. One of my emploees is a Jehovah's Witness and it seems to helped him get through his recent treatment for cancer and I have no intention or reason to disrupt that source of comfort. Now if he asks me why I don't go, then I will tell him, but I am not about to go door to door or put in field service to spread the good news of Agnosticism.

this is an essay i am posting on freeminds... i'm posting it here too for good measure.... it is well known that the 9-11 attackers had a belief in an afterlife.
as the story goes, apparently they believed that after they would die gloriously, having killed thousands of american infidels, they would be taken into paradise and would enjoy the company of 72 virgins.. .
i think it is quite easy to see the connection between the belief in such an afterlife and the nefarious deeds that these men committed.
What were they thinking when they made that promise to martyrs?

Not all they are cracked up to be. 72 "'sluts'" now that is an afterlife i can get behind
But what about 72 women nagging you after the honeymoon is over? 72 women PMS'ing. 72 women asking "do I look good in this?" 72 women saying "you dont pay enough attention to me!" 72 women saying "Let's talk." 72 women telling you "Why did you call me Stacy, I'm Jessica!" 72 women sending you to the store to by "feminine products." 72 women telling "I missed my period."
Is it worth it?
while i was a witness, i never liked or cared for j.f.
rutherford.
even with the society's whitewashing and trying to make him look like one who was part of the seven trumpet blasts in revelation, i could not stand the guy.
It does appear to be a landslide for Rutherford. Even the Society could not present him in a good light. The best they could do was call him strong and decisive. In my ten years of capture, I can't recall anyone speaking of him as one to emulate.
with the many threads surfacing here focusing on internet access opening eyes of beleivers and the unsuccessful d2d work, how many do you think really know the truth and are just going with the motions?
and if so, what is there reasoning?
family, freinds, etc...
I really believed it the first couple of years, but I remember my first doubts began in the summer of 1984. The Society always insisted that the President of the organization was just a title of the person who lead the legal entity known as the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society and that he had no special spiritual relationship with God versus anyone else.
Then in 1984 they released a brochure (I forgot the title) and one one of the pages it mentioned that Jehovah has been gathering the faithful and discreet slave since the first century. It then stated that there were some who were still alive and were known as "the annointed remnant." Pictured next to this statement was a drawing of Fred Franz and behind him was Nathan Knorr, then Rutherford, then Russell, followed by a mish mash of figures from earlier time periods.
I thought to myself, "Well they sure seem to imply by this picture that there's more to being the President than just being the head of a legal corporation." From that point on, I began looking at things in more detail and eventually jumped ship some 7 years later. (If anyone has a scan of that page, please share it).
Thanks

I could not understand why the Jehovah would pick and use such a person to get his word out. How about you? Who grated you the most?
as i was exiting the society back in 1992, the elders were frantically trying to reason with me and kept saying that i was trying to run ahead of jehovah or running ahead of the organization?
just what does that entail?.
or they would tell me to "wait on jehovah" and eventually some of my beliefs/issues will be in line with the truth.
It's funny how a mere mortal being can figure out a teaching is wrong before Jehovah does. Maybe he should be worshipping us.
That's my feeling exactly! "Running ahead of Jehovah" is such a ludicrous idea.
