Does anyone know if AP ever picked up on Ray's death?
I'd love to find it, maybe sending it to local news media.
since it was learned that ray franz went to the hospital and then passed away, most threads have in my opinion, correctly tried to give some honor and respect to a courageous, honest, and principled man.. some borderline trolls, who know many former jw's are easily upset (and they know this.
i know this...) try to take advantage by hitting on a hot button.
in this case, its to call you a follower of ray franz.. we all know that isn't true.. but i think that a legitimate discussion on this is in order.

over at freeminds we didn't want this day to pass without some recognition of the life and death of ray franz.
in view of his stated wishes not to have a memorial or service we hoped for something that he would have liked for all of us to take a moment over.. .
we owe a note of thanks to v for his graphics work and atjeff for the obituary writing - i know neither of them need mentioned by me.. .
I shared this on my facebook...he's such an awesome man! We were all blessed to have
him touched our lives. He has left a legacy that will be hard to touch.
hey there all my dear ole friends in jwd land!
wow!, what a trip!
it's not that i haven't been thinking about all of you, just had some new adventures that i've been involved in.
Glad to see you back!
hey everybody.
so i am getting on a couple dating sites, i'm having a problem when they want you to write a narrative about yourself.
has anyone done the online thing?
I have started trying to do that, and have the same prob!
I'm destined to die alone, and that's ok!! LOL
just setting the record straight.
there is another thread that notes a claim on wiki that said that ray has died.. he had a stroke yesterday, and is in the hospital.
he is still alive.
Both are in my thoughts. Am going to light a candle now.
He touched soo many lives!! Heaven has a very special place waiting for him!!
here is the most thrilling moment of my life.. i got to meet my film composer heroes john barry and miklos rosza at the beverly hills writer's guild theater for a seminar on filmmusic.. i was 30 years old at the time and going through my "you look like clint eastwood" stage.
(i'm trying to explain my crazy hair!).
i chatted with them and got them to sign my albums.. what was your most thrilling moment?.
I would have said the birth of my daughter, but then I had grandkids!!
I was born that way!!
<<<<<hence the name!!
wasn't there a thread on here where a neighborhood wasn't happy with the building of a kh, because of all the noise and activity?.
this was in our local paper a couple days ago!
feel free to post in the comment area of the paper!.
Talk about killing my own thread!! Geezzzz.....
i am going to the doctor today because of a strange 'rash' mark on my arm .
two weeks ago we were pulling out an old bush in the bakyard when i felt something poke or bite me on the arm .
i just shook my sleeve out and kept working ,then the next day i notice this red ring like rash that is clear in the middle about the size of a quarter .
I had lyme's disease back in 85. One of the first confirmed cases in texas. (I was bit by a tick in missouri) It took them 3 months to figure out what was wrong. In the time, I became very sick. I had a small baby, and had to move back home with my dad and stepdad, so they could help me care for her. I ran high fevers, and short term memory loss, and other things. I did have a rash, that had spread.
It took a couple weeks in the hospital, and a couple months of antibiotics. Back then, it was pretty new.
Please go to the dr. It could be several things. But, if it is, you need to get on antibiotics right away!

A plan to construct a Jehovah’s Witnesses hall amidst a residential neighborhood has some surrounding residents concerned about noise and lighting.
The South Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses won approval from the Columbia Planning and Zoning Commission last night to rezone a 1-acre piece of land to R-1, one-family dwelling, in preparation of constructing a Kingdom Hall facility at 350 E. Old Plank Road. The property is outside the city limits and a request for annexation is pending approval by the Columbia City Council at a future meeting.
Scott Thomas, an elder with the congregation, said the location on the south side of Columbia was chosen to offer a convenient alternative to its other facility at 301 Smiley Lane.
“We try and cover the entire area of Columbia,” Thomas said. “We hoped to put one on the south side to make it more inviting for residents to attend meetings.”
The congregation expects about 75 people to attend services at the outset. Residents surrounding the land in question expressed some concerns with the plan, including potential damage to the tree line surrounding the property.
John Hawkins, who lives just east of the site along Old Plank, said he’s not happy with the idea of a church next door. His major concern, other than the light spilling over from the parking lot, he said, is that he owns horses and donkeys and that the commotion will rile his animals, specifically the donkeys, which he said are not used to activity.
“You go by any church any time and there is almost always somebody there,” Hawkins said. “It’s a lot of cars next to our property. There will be a lot of noise because of it.”
In a letter to the city’s planning staff, Wayne Savage, who owns the property to the south of the land, asked if staff could impose landscaping along the property’s southern perimeter to provide a visual buffer.
Pat Zenner, the city’s development services manager, said in a case of open zoning the city cannot attach conditions. “The church, provided it meets minimum lot area and setback requirements, no other conditions can be attached to it,” he said.
Planning and Zoning commissioners told Thomas he should make efforts to work with the neighbors to address their concerns. Commissioner Doug Wheeler said the upcoming site plan “will be very instrumental in making everybody happy.”
Thomas said he will pass along the concerns to the people designing the site plan.
“We will do what we can to work with the neighbors,” Thomas said. “We want to be good neighbors and don’t want to cause any problems.”
The commission voted 8-0 in favor of the request. Commissioner David Brodsky was absent from the meeting.
