Cameo-D, thanks for elaborating on that here. I am in agreement with your view just presented.

Birthdays not mentioned in the new elder's handbook
by Robert7 ini just noticed this today when i was replying to another thread.
the new elders handbook doesn't even mention the word birthday, even though there's a big detailed chapter on offences requiring a judicial committee.. is it possible that celebrating birthdays is officially, according to the 'law', allowed?
i can see this being the case, where technically you're allowed to, but you would just get judged like crazy..

Latest Special Talk in Australia
by jwfacts inno, i don't mean the visit by oprah.. there was a special talk on sunday relayed to all the aussie congs from sydney.
apparently the speaker had an american accent, but was stationed in a latin american country.
he was really pushing field service and pulled out the old one that: if you do not witness you are not one of jehovah's witnesses.

Yes, and quite a permissive congregation.

Why do JW's only pick on Birthdays, Holidays, when so many other things are pagan
by Joliette ini've always wondered this, and with the holidays coming up, why does the watchtower only pick on certain things, and leave other things to question, or to the conscience?.

LOL Jookbeard remember Angel Eyes once said that it was very rare these days that people don't listen to the JW message because the world is in turmoil? LOL This was after telling us she was a pioneer, and her elders knew she comes here and were fine with it and that she even showed this site to her studies and it helped their 'spiritual progress'.
LOL

J-Woods,
Yes, they even took away the good food! I used to love the coffe and pastry for breakfast, roast beef sandwich for lunch and a sundae to top it off.

J-Woods...when you look at everything you see the Wt picks and chooses...picking what involves social interaction with others as objectionable.
Very true - but the cynic in me keeps saying that they also just hate seeing people have any fun. I agree there too. They do not want the members having too much fun on activities that are not slaving for the GB.

From the old flock book:
postasy .
Apostasy is a standing away from, a falling away, defection,
rebellion, abandonment ; it involves teaching false
doctrines, supporting or promoting false religion and its
holidays or interfaith activities. (Deut . 13 :13, 15 ; Josh.
22 :22, ftn . ; Acts 21 :21, ftn. ; 2 Cor. 6 :14, 15, 17, 18 ;
2 John 7, 9, 10 ; Rev . 18 :4)
Celebrating a false religious holiday would be similar to
performing any other act of false worship . (Jer . 7 :16-19)
