Bruce is a character I created abut ten years ago. He used to help Santa and the Easter Bunny till he converted. Bruce is simple, but not simple minded, takes things as they come.

I for one believe he did exist. Was the epicenter of oral traditions and overblown hype. Remember Paul's writings and Establishment of congregations, along with other apostolic writing, took place AFTER Jesus left the scene. It became necessary to establish a back story to shore up the activity of , mainly Paul and his teachings, along with all manner of local Church's scattered north into modern day Turkey, south into Arabia , east as far as Babylon and west into Egypt.
Sidebar question. Why was Saul ( Paul ) SO adamant about going to Damascus? Thats always puzzled me.
WHAT DO YOU THINK? Keep it civil folks. no name calling, everyone's view is as important as the next person. Also, hard for some of you to do, no sermons, we don't need to be preached/witnessed to.

After Exiting the Witnesses - Are you O.K. Not Knowing about the Future ?
by flipper init seems that religion has always been considered the opium of the people.
or at least many tend to gravitate towards religion to have or solidify some sort of future with a supreme being overlooking them hoping to have a reward either in heaven or in the jehovah's witnesses case - living forever in a " paradise earth ".
it seems that people can't just live day to day and let each day come to them with whatever happens.

The treasure I just now found ...
by compound complex inwishing all of you a happy sunday.
this morning i was unpacking family heirlooms that have been some six months in storage.
in the bottom of a cranberry glass dessert dish was what i took to be a tiny curtain ring.

Ah, your wearing the ring. Truly a loving commeration....
Do write the Old German's story, many old time Germans were harsh, stern with their children, especially if they came from the Old Country. Imagine how the son felt after reading the father's journal. My mind swirls with ideas. Coming from your pen the story would be marvelous.

Thanks for sharing CoCo, that's the best thing I've read today. Several years ago I inherited my Dad's foot locker. In the bottom found two Army medals. A Purple Heart and Bronze Medal ( WWII ). Didn't even know he had them. There was a third I've never been able to ID. Dad was never much about talking of his achievements. He served in Patton's Third Army in an supply unit called Th Red Ball Express, can only guess how and why he received the awards.
When you go through things it's always a thrill to make a discovery.

There are two things I know about, well three really.......1. At some point in the future I will die....2. In about two hours from now I will start making supper....3. We as a family live from day to day, we make plans for the future and HOPE those plans will mature for our benefit.
As to the future, well, it has a tendency to change. Just found out my grand-daughter will not be here for supper, see, my future has already changed, since that will effect what will be prepared for supper. Might not even fix supper, let everyone else forge, graze for themselves. Whatever I decide I will decide in the future, even then something else may effect what gets done. Two hours from now, or two years from now the future will be the present, that's when you make your decisions.
So, I'm OK not knowing about the future. Can't change the past, can't foretell the future, all you can do is wrestle with the present, and have hope for the future.
