i have been df-ed for almost 9 years.

just out of curiosity, has anyone decided to find another religion or belief after being jw?

i struggle with my feelings, my mom and brother, aunt, cousins are all jw.

godruiz if you want to preach and give sermons go start your own topic. Don't hi-jack the thread with your personel bible thumping. This topic is about anniegril, not Jesus. She is confused, hurt and needs advice on how to search out what is in HER best spritual interest. Not yours. You might as well be a jw counting time.

Anniegril needs love, compassion, and sound advice to use her freedom to decide for herself what's needed to fill that spirtual void. Not a sermon that consoles only you. If at the end of her journey she comes to Jesus that's all well and good, but she does not need to be jack-hammered with him at this time. Stop hi-jacking the thread, take it somewhere else.

Welcome anniegril. This is a great place to be. Sad to hear your pain. James Woods comment can be a comfort for you. Jean luc Picard gave some solid advice as well.

Echo YKnots comment. Yes there is spritual life outside the wt, as well as finding a place in life for yourself. Don't much care for godruiz comments, but hey it's your life. That's the THING, you have control, you have the freedom to choose. Look at EVERYTHING closly. Find what fits your spirtual need. Doesen't matter what it is, because YOU HAVE THE FREEDOM TO CHOOSE. You don't need an elder, preacher, me, or anyone else on this board to tell you what's right for anniegril. It will take time, effort, work, but YOU can do it, because your doing for yourself, not to apease something, or someone.

It's all for YOU anniegril. Enjoy your freedom. All the best to you on your journey. Freedom anniegril, freedom. You have the power.

The blessings of being disfellowshipped

don't get me wrong, it does suck.

but after being on ex-jw boards for years, and being df'ed for almost 10; i do see some hidden blessings.. first, you do not have to struggle with fading successfully.

Da'd here - same situation, different terminology. Same blessings.....( AK-Jeff ).....Yeah....that too, waited 12 yrs before doing that, not knowing the rules chagned. But, that's another story.

JRK...well balanced view. Although it is hard on some folks due to family and a wide range of other reasons.

When I Da'd my father had returned to the tower after twenty years of being free. Of course he had to shun me. Walked around in shock a short time, but that was my dad, loved him. If that's what he wanted then that's what he wanted. Never lost sleep over it. He was a bit crafty though. Would come by and visit Kathy and my daughter who were never jw's. If I was home, funny how that worked, we visited.

Enjoyed reading yall's comments. Good to be free, eh?

i have heard quite a bit about the july 15th watchtower magazine on this sie.

so i went and downloaded it and read several of the articles.. page 16 paragraph 6 states : "well, apostates are mentally diseased,and they seek to infect others with their disloyal teachings".

how horrible, they seem to know sooo much about menal health !.

I must be nuts as an Almound Joy bar that's been dropped in the filith of muck and mire that makes up the world, cause I can no longer buy into their convoluted, contrived, flip-flop, new-light, change doctrin, like they change socks, dogma.

However, I am consoled to be in the good company of other mentally diseased apostates who seek to infect them with their disloyal teachings. Oh yes, they love me anyway because I'm mental and we all know the mentally diseased are to be shown pity. Thank you wt, I feel so much better now.

for the last four days, every morning i take donut out for her walk, i always find jw's preaching door to door across the street.

i always cross to them, and wait with dread at what i think is inevitable: they will try to preach to me.. but it never happens.

four days, seen three diifferent groups, nothing.

I think I know how you feel. Back in the day, when we were "on the clock" we talked to ANYBODY we came accross while in FS. Mostly HH though, but if we passed someone walking their dog we were agressive, in a nice way, great chance for a quick witness, didn't let anyone get away.

However, you 've got good comments from young ex-jw's ( speaking about the passage of time ) that understand how the tower operates in the now. I don't go that far back, but can you imagine how it was in the days of Rutherford? Talk about agressive, carry signs, phono-graphs blaring. In your face with their message. Don't think you would feel "snubed" back then, or back when I was active.

Been on this board for six years, still amazed how much has changed when it comes to fs. Don't feel bad, none of the wtnesses want to be out there pounding the pavement. Dash through your territory assingment fast as you can, then head for the coffee shop, kick back, relax and do the most important thing a jw out in fs can do, gossip about what's going on at the kh.

Ah, kids....love to watch the little ones scamper about looking for eggs and treats....very soothing....I'll attend a Sunday School if the subject is interesting...Church service, BORING...perhaps it's a hold over from having to attend five meetings a week as a jw. When you get away from that, look back and see the time , unwarented time, you get a liking for FREEDOM.....
