after several attempts to log on, im finally in!
woohoo!.
well my story goes as follows, grew up a dub, in northern england, mum, dad, and the rest of us brood, dad becomes an elder sisters pioneers, and me and me brother were regular "publishers".
my wife and i watch a movie last night, called "the truth".
it was about an amish girl who got pregnant and had a child.
anyway, she was ordered to be shunned by all members for her wrong doing, for six weeks.. this brings up the questions..... is shunning bible-based?.
*** Rbi8 Matthew 18:15-17 *** 15 "Moreover, if your brother commits a sin, go lay bare his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. 16 But if he does not listen, take along with you one or two more, in order that at the mouth of two or three witnesses every matter may be established. 17 If he does not listen to them, speak to the congregation. If he does not listen even to the congregation, let him be to you just as a man of the nations and as a tax collector.
This is Jesus speaking, and he said to treat them as people of the nations and tax collectors.
How did Jesus treat people of the nations and tax collectors?
*** Rbi8 Matthew 11:18-19 ***Well I don't know about you, but it sounds like the lord like to party!18
Correspondingly, John came neither eating nor drinking, yet people say, ‘He has a demon’; 19 the Son of man did come eating and drinking, still people say, ‘Look! A man gluttonous and given to drinking wine, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ All the same, wisdom is proved righteous by its works."
No just kidding , well maybe, Now I know their are other scriptures that say, not to even say a greeting to such ones, but that was'nt said by Jesus, and as far as I'm concerned Jesus's words have authority over all others.
So I'd say follow Jesus example in the way he treated people, it's alot differant than what your taught at the K.H.

basically my question is, is there a difference between a person who was inactive for 15 years and missed all the meetings, compared to a disfellowshipped person who also missed 15 years of meetings.
lets say that both come back and after a few months both are active again.
is the inactive person treated the same way as the one who has been reinstated?.
my cookies are laced with Satan's Minions
.Pass the cookies please! LOL
I think every Hall is different, ours had a lot of DFed ones, when they were reinstated we'd clap, then we got a new P.O. and we were told it wasent proper to clap after reinstatement announcements.
Then we were told, but not in so many words, that it would be best not to associate with newly reinstated one's until they proved themselves ( What ? I thought the fact that they were comming to meetings while being DFed was proof of their loyalty)
So in the hall I went to, DFed ones still had to prove themselves after reinstatement.
Now I clap when some one gets out and stays out !!

or are you careful as to what you say?
?
I believe there's a time and place for every thing, but if a subject comes up that I feel strongly about I have no problem speaking my mind.
If you see some things wrong and don't say or try to correct the wrong, what good are we ?
I think if people spoke out more (In Real Life) then maybe their voices will be heard.
Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession.
I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first.Ronald Reagan (1911 - 2004)
Politics is the art of preventing people from taking part in affairs which properly concern them.- Paul Valery (1871 - 1945)
Ninety percent of the politicians give the other ten percent a bad reputation.- Henry Kissinger (1923 - )
They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.- Benjamin Franklin (1706 - 1790)
I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it.- Thomas Jefferson (1743 - 1826), to Archibald Stuart, 1791
Patterning your life around other's opinions is nothing more than slavery.- Lawana Blackwell, The Dowry of Miss Lydia Clark, 1999
:Thomas JeffersonA wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor and bread it has earned -- this is the sum of good government.
George Orwell:In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act.
Speak out and be heard, or be led like sheep !
sorry I got a little carried away...

.
i have to say that generally the criticism on this board toward jws is over the top.. i personally have huge problems with the 'truth' right now in my life but i notice the ones who have literally nothing good to say about anything.. there are a lot of good witnesses and a lot of good doctrine and a lot of good motives among jws.. criticism fine, but jesus commended when due.. .
Quote from WTS CD,
*** Rbi8 Matthew 23:27-28 ***
27 "Woe to YOU, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because YOU resemble whitewashed graves, which outwardly indeed appear beautiful but inside are full of dead men’s bones and of every sort of uncleanness.
28 In that way YOU also, outwardly indeed, appear righteous to men, but inside YOU are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.
Yeah on the outside they may look good, but deep down the're just like Jesus said above.

he was from my congregation in missouri.
i remember him well.
he was 6 yrs younger than me.
Acadian ~ it is men like this and my husband who are willing to sacrifice their lives so you can have the freedom to spout drivle.
I don't remember anyone asking me if they could sacrifice their lives for me.
And you don't know my background, where i've been and what i've done. (Military/Marines)
It saddens me when anyone dies, but e specially for the wrong reasons.
This War is based solely on deception and lies. (like most wars)
I don't apoligize for my comments, because their not against those who have fallen and their families.
Their against the mind-set that allows our children to be sent to places like Iraq in the name of "Democracy".

What was he doing there in the first place?
Sorry for your lost. But if you want to play you have to pay.
Matt. 26:52
The military is not an organization that values life, they kill people.
Regardless of why a person would join such an organization, education or what ever, it's still a killing machine. When you sign up, your saying you are willing to kill people and/or be killed.
What a waste of life ...

i'm not a medical professional - but i feel very strongly about this issue and want to pass it along.. why are so many witnesses so sick?
why do they often seem to be plagued by strange, chronic illnesses - that often appear.
to have a strong psychosomatic element?
Just Kidding !!!

Regarding JW illnesses, it does seem that they are plagued with mystery diseases fairly often.
I had my share of mystery illnesses. If I didn't feel like going to the meeting and didn't feel like explaining the real reason to my wife I'd invent some imaginary pain in some imaginary organ or muscle group. Many advantages to doing this.
- I'd miss the meeting.
- I'd get to play on the computer.
- I'd get to order in pizza while wifey was at the meeting.
- I'd get all kinds of extra attention from wifey, something along the lines of "pooooor baaaaby!!!" And a pat on the head.
Quit going to the meetings and field service and you'll feel much better.
or it's SATAN
we were always lead to believe, when we belonged to the jws, that jesus died on a "stake".
was this really true or did he die on a cross as all other religions appear to believe.
if it was a cross, what on earth did the jws get out of saying otherwise.
Does it really matter, thats not where your salvation lies.
People get caught up in the little things, forgetting the bigger picture ( whatever that is?)
