  Quebec came within 1 percentage point of voting for separation in 1995, so I wouldn't be so confident that they won't vote for it next time.

  Believe it when I see it. And if they do, well, ok then. After 40 yrs of talk, the parting would be cathartic.

  Especially if the views expressed here are representative of how the rest of Canada feels toward them.

  Which they are not of course. Nice try though. You should run for office.

  regarding worldly people, shows or toys?

  etc...what quotes annoyed you the most?.

  for me it was "well, you have to remember, they're worldly"... "don't trust anyone who isn't in the truth" "they may be nice but they are not friends of jehovah"... just a few to name.

  watching "our whole association of brothers" for the meeting tonight, and we came to the part where the japanese brother lost his two kids and wife.

  he went on to relate that holy spirit helped him to cope with the loss.

  Oh, and secession won't happen; it would've a long time ago when it had some traction. Now it's just rehashed news and media manipulation. You don't really believe that kind of political scare mongering do you?

  i am looking for rebuttals on this statement.

  i find it reprehensive when they preach this from the platform, they do not want jws (who are individuals) to have any individuality.

  they want people to be their personal robots with no free will.

  What would you say to a JW or an elder if they were to accuse you of having an "independent spirit/attitude" using both the bible and reason?

  Nothing. I don't answer to them and they wouldn't listen or respect the answer anyways.

  i haven't been on here regularly in many years, but i know what it is like for many; or those that are on their way of exiting the organization.. what songs do you recall or remember during your exodus from the wtbts ??.

  i left mentally in the late autumn of 1983; apparently (i don't know officially...but does it really matter?

  So where is all this supposed worldwide persecution of Jehovah's Witnesses?

  for years, it was drummed into our heads that the whole world lies in the hands of the wicked one who hates us and a result, mankind particularly hates the jws with a passion.. now that i think about it, i've seen very little evidence of that.

  i mean yes, in places like malawi, germany and some other countries the witnesses have been through real persecution - not the type that the average dub would call it like doors being slammed in the face.

  but what have they experienced that many other religions in other countries haven't?

  today i just thought of this.

  i had written a thread about the false teaching of the anointed being resurrected already.

  anyway, the wt assumes the 24 elders in revelation are the 144,000, and the assumption is merely because both sit on thrones.

  I feel not the urge, sorry.

  But if I recall, archive threads by AlanF, Dogpatch, HillaryStep, Farkel, Littletoe, and of course, LadyLee were all good in terms of content and/or interesting dialogue. FunkyDerek and Abaddon cut to the crux of any issue with surgical precision. Many others whose names I don't recall offhand.
