  i am a long time lurker who has come out of the closet.

  i have read many fine posts here and feel for all of you who have been hurt by the witnesses.

  they are a lying, unaccountable organization - with an emphasis on the word unaccountable!

  Ooops....

  I didn't mean to sound "lecturish". Just please be careful when you say all of them are or that. I swallowed most of the same stuff (born and raised) and parrotted it back upon requst but that didn't make me a real liar, just duped. What feels like betrayal is more the unthinking (and to some degree unfeeling) among a bunch of old men trying to justify their existence not exercising due care (in my estimation) for those "undere their charge" as FDS.

  By all means be indignant, outraged, mad...just be careful what or who you're maligning...that's all.

  That said, I would be interested in your reaction and observations of others in your area to the "new light" in 1995. I had already faded away so I'm very curious and I haven't seen a recent thread on the subject.

  Welcome to the board LHG.

  Hopefully all your daily chores won't become as neglected as mine have over the last couple of weeks that I've been perusing the site (newbie too)! We welcome your coming posts. Please try "qualify" any vitriol by being as fair and balanced as you possibly can.

  We do all need to vent and rant a little and the board is great for sharing fustrations and observations.

  That said, let the games begin.

  i have heard recently that the society has some sort of financial connections with philip morris the tobacco giant.. is this true???

  my mother was out in pioneer service yesterday with another sister.

  their car was broadsided by another car, running a red light, drunken driving, and both women were tragically hurt.

  my mother sustained head injuries, and some other broken bones.

  All the best to you, your mother, and especially your aunt. I lost one of my aunts to a car accident when I was a boy. While I'm not presently praying to anybody, you all have my fullest hopes for complete recoveries all round and that this accident only will serve you in later times as a reminder of how precious and amazing all life is.

  I agree entirely that accepting those monies are completely unacceptable! Hiding behind technicalities of law is morally unnacceptable to me (a sinner who won't by mutual funds for the above reason).

  My point is any entity receiving widsepread donations will receive a percentage of questionnable funds in the process. Now, that said, why is there no reasonable organizational provision (like the review board on ethical fund management teams) to constantly review their income sources and new holdings thoroughly (I think they could afford a few professionals if necessary) and immediately remove or decline inappropriate donations.

  As a former business grad, I don't accept a position of ignorance as acceptable (any organization must choose how much its willing to pay to be ethical-accountants are capable of providing estimates regardless of what most senior executives will tell you, prefering to ignore the issue until a crisis comes along). One woild have thought that loving prudence would have created such a unit and process and that these things would be near impossible and quickly dealt with.

  That said, do I expect a detailed letter of apology and a history of the investment income receipts or an offer of donation to anti-smoking causes? Not really hopeful!

  My fingers hurt now, but does make my earlier post a little clearer? Accuracy in staements is paramount for the board's credibility.

  i can't believe how many guys that have told me "oh i really really like you" or "i would never hurt you" <---- (my personal favorite) or just any other bull hooey that they just telll you to try to see how far they can get with you or whatever they want from you.

  i'm not even 18 yet and i'm already sick of it!

  Hi Dirt Rocker,

  Liberty is right. You have to be willing to do a little more hunting yourself for the right kind of "game". I worked in the financial industry for years surrounded by women of all ages and types so I've had plenty exposure to the female point of view. You are genetically programmed to go after two types of men (not boys). The agressive bad dude with all the necessary genetic codes and the kind, nurturing dope who'll actually help you bring up those offspring.

  I've known legions of "nice guys" who were left in the dust by dumb females going after the former "biker/rebel" type. My old man drilled me and my brothers into gentleman and I still can't lie to get laid (more's the pity!)! Our western societies are not producing "men" like they did a couple of generations ago and we do jave a plethora of twenty and thirty something boys unfortunately but decent guiys are all around you (but ya gotta look and reach out a little)

  Sooooo...I don't feel very much sympathy for you male bashin' ladies out there.

  I agree.

  As kids, you could never really "measure up" to young Jesus' example (and I was a goody two shoes) and you could never just be like all the other kids at school (even double-lifers). The self-esteem issues are horrid especially during adolesence (all teenagers are a little crazy IMO).

  My father was an MS and got constant condescending (?) apoloqies from our cong.'s elders that they "couldn't make him an elder unless he could get more service hours (even though the hours he did put in were of the highest quality I've ever observed, including CO's) . The poor guy had a low paying job (putting Kingdom first) and five kids and was always trying to help other poor relatives and other low status members of our cong. with real help.It was a real slap in the face.

  He wasn't into the elder status/power trip as an emotionally sensitive man (who could not stand bullshit) and he was often a burr under their saddles when they tried to make their own lives easier (you the type of thing -you ignore my kids sins and I'll ignore your kid's). They were a little leary of having him in the club.

  Things eventually came to a head and he had to move away to keep his sanity. An increadibly pious man (even jesus would have thought a bit of a stickler), he and our mom did their training work a little too well (hence we all left).

  I feel maybe 10% of JW's (and I'm being generous) follow the official lifestyle day in day out.
