there was a big elders meeting in columbia sc on saturday june 9.. around 240 congregations, 2000+ elders.. the society wants to build a brand new assembly hall in columbia, sc, to handle the huge influx of jws moving to the us southeast from up north.. they expect to have it done in 34 months (finished by april 2010).

total cost estimated to be approximately $8 - 9 million.. they want to have the whole thing paid for by the time the building is done - no long term loans.. they "strongly suggested" that each of the 240 congregations commit to supporting "their share" of the expense.

What estimates or guidelines are they using to arrive at estimated 8 or 9m $ for the ah?

The property I am sure would be costly, but they never use contractors, which are expensive, workmans comp. rates are at all time highs right now, this drives up the price of construction rates, however the dubs elimination contractors helps them avoid the most expensive part of construction, so the cost should be quite low imo.

Gluttony and Drunkenness

i knew several that got df'd for drunkenness but never anyone for gluttony.

as far as i can remember, in the bible there weren't categories or various levels of sin; and both these are mentioned as sinful.

last i looked, there were an awful lot of very obese witnesses in the congs.

yeah thats one thing i wondered more than once about.
i never heard of ANYONE being dfed or in a jc for gluttony EVER! there are also almost none articles about it in the literature.
its strange.

Maybe that's because the elders at the jc would not have any juicy details to salivate over...well maybe except for the "juicy" food talk part.

I know someone that killed a householders dog out in service. It was a little ankle biter and he held up his foot to keep it away as it was attacking. The dog ran into his sole chest first at full tilt and died instantly. I wasn't there so I don't know what the householder's reaction was, but I bet it wasn't one of admiration seeing a large, ogreish boy with an IQ of about 80 saying "uhh I killed yer dawg" in his thick Georgia accent.

I would have beat the sh** out of that idiot.

it is spendy to start but it sounded good.

I sell online but it's local, unless I ebay.

Make sure you research the biz that put on the seminar, just to make sure it's not some sort of scam.
