My Disassociation Letter - Should I post it ?

i posted a question in november on whether i should da - and i got a surprising level of response - i was also swayed towards not 'playing the wt game'.. however, i feel i want closure.. please see below the letter i have just finished writing - i plan to post it later this week, but would like to know your opinions:.

1) should i send it - yes or no.

Hi alliwannadoislive,

I like your letter. When I da'ed myself I was not interested in following WT rules or acknowledging any authority of the WT, I wanted to totally separate myself from an organization that I had come to realize was false, destructive, deceptive, power hungry, hateful, etc.

I left behind in the WT almost all of my family and whatever friends I had in the WT. Family included four daughters, one son, five grandchildren, three sisters, their children and grandchildren and more.

I thought that if I stayed in the organization my family may never have reason to doubt the teachings of the cult. By leaving I hoped to try to get through to them with facts. It is extremely slow but after about nine years my son questioned the WT and researched it, then left. I am encouraged by some other happenings in my family (I will not mention because of JWs reading this) I look forward to the day when EVERY one of my family is out of that destructive cult. I really believe it will happen.

My sons letter contained a warning to the WT that if they made attempts to smear his name he might bring legal action against them.

Just my thoughts.

when you start reading rays book and find out that everything you know to be factual, the only constant, solid, truth in the universe is just nothing?

i've known this in my head since i started reading posts here on xmas day but i have never really believed it.

i thought i just wanted to believe it so that i could rid myself of some of this guilt i've always carried around.

I think Evansville is about 3 or 4 hours from here. I live in Ohio just a little east of the Indiana line. I grew up in the Richmond, Indiana congregation. Was in Indianapolis and Chicago for a few years a long time ago.

Speaking only for myself (but I know others have done the same) I decided that I would use my anger/hurt etc. against the WT, not in violence or anything like that.

I bought a new answering machine and put messages on it to warn people about the WT teachings (you can get some prerecorded ones from Randy Watters) I put ads in the paper, I (along with a partner) put a booth at our county fair with literature (free)exposing the WT. I demonstrated at NY Headquarters and at WT conventions, etc., etc. Those sorts of things helped me a lot and also helped other people.

here is another unequivocal example of a claim of direct inspiration: in the olin moyle court case of 1943, fred franz said under oath that no man is the editor of the watchtower.

I remember many years ago when the WT condemned other religions because of their (other religions) roots or foundation. If the WT can condemn others because of their past then it is only right and proper for the WT to have those same standards used against them.

Also I do not believe that a false prophet can EVER suddenly become a true prophet. I do not see anywhere in the bible where God decided to forgive a false prophet and then use that false prophet as a true prophet.

I think you are where many of us were when we first started having doubts about the organization. I think you are indeed on your way out. I congratulate you ahead of time, and for thinking independently.

I have taken part in several demonstrations at Watchtower Headquarters. PFO Ministries used to take a bus load of ex-jws to Brooklyn each year the day before the Pennsylvania convention.

I believe you must have a police permit to demonstrate so the police keep an eye on the demo. Also WT headquarters began expecting us, so they had the Bethelites use tunnels to go between buildings, so there were very few JWs on the sidewalks while we were there.

That being the case I doubt there is much danger of violence.

q 1: where does the bible say god's name is jehovah.. q 2: what's an apostate.

q 3: what is the "evil slave vs good slave" i read this ealier sounds more like a movie in hollywood.. q 4: why would any one want to be a slave.

q 5: why not give a child blood to save their lives.

Just wanted to add one thing. I didn't see anyone mention it yet. Which slave was it that was so interested in when the master would return? The faithful slave went about the Master's business and paid no attention to trying to guess the exact time of the Masters return. On the other hand the evil slave wanted to know exactly when the Master would return so that he could pretend to be a good slave, doing the Master's business. Wonder what religious organization has spent so much of their time, writing, etc. on the time of the Master's return?

Congratulations on taking your first steps. Besides the books already mentioned I enjoy the newsletters of Randy Watters and MacGregor Ministries. Along with articles they also have letters from people just searching and/or leaving the WT.

Ladonna,

Yes, it certainly is true. You can find the deed where the property was deeded to the patriarchs, and very much material on the matter. There is a book by Ed Gruss detailing Beth Sarem, Beth Shan and other things. I think it is called "Monuments to Watchtower False Prophecies" or something like that.
