It's quite sad. I heard individual witnesses talk about how none of their money will actually go to the victims in need. What the heck if none of the money was going to the victims there wouldnt be thousands of people getting helped. That denial was just sickening.

Tsumani Relief: Witnesses Organized Against It
by Grace init is clear that watchtower directives do not show compassion or aid to those in need, with the exception if those in need are fellow witnesses.
for the tsumani on dec. 26, the rank and file were told if they wished to donate to help those in need, they must give to the worldwide work designation at the kh, then the brothers would use their discretion as how to disseminate the funds.
in a telephone conversation, it was clear that "no kingdom halls were destroyed" by the tsumani, therefore, it was not urgent in the watchtower's minds.. check this site for yourself:.

Why do/don't you believe in God
by LouBelle innow for all the scientists out there this is not a question of proof or anything along those lines.
for my part i choose to believe in a god because i honestly believe there is one (though i did start doubting for a little while) i've always felt that there was more to our existance on earth - and that doesn't stem from me wanting to live forever or as a spirit, as i don't even know if that will happen.
i also believe in him because many many times when i could not carry on, on my own strength, i managed to pulled through.

mad max you seem to be jumpy. That is the one thing that really made me cringe about religion. One minute you can be the most holy person in the world "Knowing" that this ruler is the true ruler of the universe and that this world is just a manifestation of him. Yet... have a few bills come your way you can't pay or depression hits you and you question the existence or the benevolence of your God since you and millions of other people in this world are suffering horrible deaths. In reality, the latter position is just as valid as the former position. Both of these positions are based on a book that has no touch with reality unless your own mind puts it there in some fanciful way of some sort. This stance is very unstable unless you can force yourself into any which way through telling yourself that this is the truth over and over and over again. And understanding this "truth" because you read it over and over again. Quite frankly, this isn't study, this is self indoctrination. I can make a book just as long as the bible and it will be just as valid as the bible. The only thing that will hold it back is individuals who will not let go of their old beliefs for this new one because they have "faith" when it's just as valid as the bible. This way of reasoning is just not productive to humanity because there will never be any advancement. We will continue to believe in this God-think (and throughout history forcibly shunning anything against it) for hundreds of years until some brave soul will step in with some secular reasoning.

Please refute: There is ONE true God, one creator, one savior
by M.J. ini am curious, what explanations are there for the scriptures that affirm the existance of only one true deity, in light of christ's affirmed deity (jn 1:1, is 9:6)?
other than the conclusion that the deity spoken of could be inclusive of christ?
(perhaps in the sense of john 10:30--"i and the father are one").

That's a pretty bold statement Tigerman, if not outright lieing. Try to contribute something beneficial to the conversation without spreading baseless claims.

80% (Im being generous, it's more than that and I'm not even kidding) of the things my parents and the fellow JW's at my kingdom hall talk about is how bad the world is. Litteral quote, "The world is filled with nothing but disease and death and wicked people". My mouth was wide open. I have yet to meet one wicked evil person in my life yet they're saying EVERYBODY is like this. Sure if I meet Osama that would be pretty high on the evil list but you don't see a freakin osama everyday. It's just terribly sad, further evidence of how wrong they are.

The Atheist's Book of Bible Stories - Ch. 22 - Biblical Apologists Toolkit
by RunningMan inover the years, i have run into numerous persons who have attempted to defend the bibles literal accuracy.
these opponents have presented explanations that range in quality from truly inspired justifications to pitifully lame excuses.
for example, when one believer was confronted with the fact that the ancient temple was credited with containing enough raw materials for a building more than a thousand times its size, he replied, "well, maybe it had a basement.

"I think that the bible prophesied that too."
Prophesized? There has been pain and destruction before humans were born. How can the bible prophesize something before the bible was even created.
Anyways, many folks believe in God because it fills a hole in their emotions that couldn't be filled with much else. (Not saying everybody just many folks) God fills that need because the concept of God can be ANYTHING you want. You can attribute all of the great things that has ever happened to God and there will be no magical force saying it isn't because it's essentially nothing. (sorry if I offended anybody with this. Just think of the opposite religious belief say if you're christian think of a muslim. Aren't they not believing in nothing by many folks?) However, that nothing can be everything because like I said before you can attribute anything you want to this God, and it's the exact opposite. You can contribute all of the bad things that You feel are bad to this Devil idea. And it will be more real to you than any person alive because a real person does have limitations that can be observed, but with God it's nothing, which makes him pretty much everything in your mind.
Me personally I have found more believing in myself and the world around me than anything else. And this is not to sound selfish, because every person I associate with even in the most indirect of ways are a part of me in a way. They form the person I am even if I don't want them to. That's a pretty close connection, and if I deny their involvement in my life I'm pretty much denying myself. THIS has brought me more satisfaction and comfort than any person or any idea has ever had. I'm never worried about dissapointing myself or I will kill myself if I don't do this right, my life is for advancement. Advancement is my purpose in life and that's more real to me than a smoke dream in the far future can ever bring.
And sorry again if I offended anyone, just how I feel about things. -

A Good Escape Plan.
by Daunt ini'm planning on moving out from my jw parents house in about 7 months.
i'm trying to start a job and i already have a little money going into it (bout 2500 dollars little) however, mainly i just wanted to really know if this was the best course of action.
my parents are the usual jw's but i do love them, however, the pressure is just building up from all their jw reasoning and pressure and guilt trips and all that mess.

Thanks a lot Hybrid. Yes an education is the most important thing possible. However I'm going to wait on college for a while and focus on art school. That will train my artistic ability good enough to sell portraits to folks and be a concept/matte artists. And I understand how to seperate work and play. Well I hope, I never had too much fun before.

Think of the Children.
by Daunt ini've seen a lot of posts lately about children and their sexuality and this subject has always kind of touched me the wrong way, because it was hard for me to get a definitive answer for it.
the children today hear sexual content many times out of the day.
i was never specifically worried about this since i am one of these young ones and it hasn't made me a raging ignorant sexual deviant anytime lately but it is something to consider.

Our goal shouldn't be to stop them from doing drugs. That's just as fanciful as hoping that none of them will have sex. It's going to happen. The best way to keep the numbers down and to have individuals think reasonably about them is to teach them about it reasonably. I think folks keep in their mind that we should stop them from having sex. That won't help anybody. We need to teach them about it and let them make the decision on their own because they're going to make it on their own anyways, better to have all the information about it before diving in.

Would acceptance of the gospel change the world?

And that division that you speak of hmike is the exact thing that makes this worldwide gospel theory irrelevent. It just won't work. There will always be reason because nature gives us a reason to reason eh. There will always be divide and that divide will not cause world peace.
