NWT inserting Jehovah in the NT (discussing the "J" references)
by AuldSoul ini wrote most of this in response to drew sagan, in a thread that wasn't really about this issue.
when i read back over it, i figured it need a thread of its own.. the first part of the puzzle is in appendix 1d of the nwt reference bible.
they list all "237 places where the name jehovah occurs in the main text of the new world translation of the christian greek scriptures.

I believe there are also several instances where the 'j documents' use YHWH where the society doesn't quote them. I'm pretty sure JSchwem (spelling?) posted some about this a year or two ago. I will look for his posts and link the thread, if I can figure it out.
This is one of those things that blew me away when I first learned it. I went from high and mighty and smarter than thou to embarrassed, duped and foolish.

Why are KMs no longer posted?
by TheListener inthe board used to have a lot of the information from the kingdom ministry's posted and reexamine.org had scans of the actual kms.. why aren't they scanned or posted any longer?
anyone who has access to the latest kms please, if possible, post them.. for those of us who have faded away or otherwise left but still need to be aware of what's happening in our jw family's lives (and the kms play a big part in that) it would be so very useful.. currently on reexamine.org the july 2006 km is posted.
but, the august, september and this week or next the october 2006 kms could be on there too.. .

Yes, but they don't post the monthly figures as shown in the KMs there. I have July's KM but not August or September.
Anyone?

Got any quick 1914 / 607 points?
by drew sagan intomarrow i'm meeting with a jw friend who is connected to what's going on with these elders that came over our house and everything else.
i can't get into details as to how it works out, but this is the important part.
this guy (and elder) can be a quite reasonable person.

I posted this awhile ago and I still contend that other posters are better equipped to discuss this subject.
Daniel 5:26 is discussing the destruction of Babylon:
(Daniel 5:26) 26 "This is the interpretation of the word: ME´NE, God has numbered [the days of] your kingdom and has finished it.
In the NWT (w/ references) Daniel 5:26 has a referene to Jeremiah 25:12 which states:
(Jeremiah 25:12) 12 "‘And it must occur that when seventy years have been fulfilled I shall call to account against the king of and against that nation ,’ is the utterance of Jehovah, ‘their error, even against the land of the Chal·de´ans, and I will make it desolate wastes to time indefinite . . .
Clearly then, the WTS is teaching us that the 70 years relates to . To further show this I have put up a quote from the Isaiah's Prophecy book. The society has added this information to sound the teaching down; you know repetition for emphasis.
*** ip-1 chap. 19 p. 253 Jehovah Profanes the Pride of Tyre ***True, the island-city of Tyre is not subject to Babylon for a full 70 years , since the Babylonian Empire falls in 539 B.C.E. Evidently, the 70 years represents the period of Babylonia’s greatest domination —when the Babylonian royal dynasty boasts of having lifted its throne even above "the stars of God." (Isaiah 14:13) Different nations come under that domination at different times. But at the end of 70 years, that domination will crumble . What will then happen to ?
The section above this line is a quick and dirty 607 argument. If you want you can use the information below as well: (good luck)
The only thing left then is to figure out why the WTS says the 70 years ends in 537BCE and not 539BCE?
You could say that this 70 years, Babylon's 70 years of ascension is separate from Israel's 70 years of servitude, but then 2 Chronicles wouldn't make sense because it too references back to Jeremiah 25:12.
(2 Chronicles 36:20-21) 20 Furthermore, he carried off those remaining from the sword captive to Babylon, and they came to be servants to him and his sons until the royalty of Persia began to reign; 21 to fulfill Jehovah’s word by the mouth of Jeremiah , until the land had paid off its sabbaths. All the days of lying desolated it kept sabbath, to fulfill seventy years.
So there you have it. Each scripture clearly cross-references the others (use NWT with references) and the Isaiah Prophecy I book clearly sets forth the Society’s viewpoint that different nations came under ’s rule at different stages.
I’m no teacher and this issue isn’t my specialty but that’s my input .

I read the board every day for 2 1/2 years. In that time I had to decide what I felt was right and wrong about the truth. I had to slowly disentangle myself from the beast.
When I found this site it was by accident. I felt that if I could just research things, 607 would make sense. I have tons of pages printed out from old discussion threads on various boards regarding 607. After reading what I felt were the most educated posters on the subject (for and against) I just couldn't believe I fell for all of it. I still don't know how those posters sell this crap to others.
I had to stop serving in the congregation, tell my immediate family how I felt, tell extended family how I felt, suffer the consequences and start my life all over again.
Thank you all so much for being here for me over the years.

If someone wants to assign the good things in their life to a higher power and let us in on their feelings, ok. Why do we feel the need to criticize that? Ask questions; thoughtful, poignant and honest questions - ok, but questions meant to belittle or show the initial poster foolish - I don't think that is very welcoming or friendly.
Does anyone here like margaritas? never mind, sorry. I like margaritas. Ooops there I go again. sorry. back to the topic - frozen? no, I like them on the rocks. Stop it!
I don't want to post about margaritas any longer. (oh but they're so yummy)
I've just had a nice dinner which consisted of better margaritas and I am feeling pretty good. I thank God that the hostess kept the pitcher full. -oh is that ok?
Now mind you, I'm not thanking God that she didn't trip or fall or drop my margaritas, that'd be crazy. But, just that she was thoughtful enough to keep the pitcher full. oh yeah.
Anyway, let's try and treat newbies the way we'd like to be treated. No matter how crazy they are. hahahahahahaha.
