Forgiveness, How Far Do You Take It?
by prophecor inhas it ever happened to you, something so dispicable you would rather go to your grave, not having forgiven someone a wrong they had done you, hopeful that god would sort it out in the end?
mind you, i know things like child molestation, rape and murder are things for which it is difficult, if not impossible, to be forgiving of.
that being said, where does one draw the line on forgiveness?

We have all been victims of someone else's actions, and we have all been hurt by someone else's words. Betrayal by friends, family, or hurtful words spoken, without caring much about the consequences, it happens. I try to forgive people, even people I don't like. I try to walk that proverbial mile in their shoes. If we look into our own hearts, I'm sure we will all find something we are not proud of. Something we said or did that hurt another person. Something we would like to be forgiven for as well. Forgiving someone else doesn't seem to be hard for me, but I can't forgive myself for past mistakes.

I NEED YOUR HELP!!!!!
by chuckyy inmy wifes father has just died.
he wasn't a jw but his wife is.my wife and i are recently disassociated.. the thing is, the reason my wife and i disassociated is because of cruel comments made by certain sisters toward my disabled daughter.
now my wife has to see these 2 particular people everyday at school (their 2 kids are in class with ours) now usually, they stand away from my wife waiting for their kids and walk out after us.

Now to be honest, I have a feeling in the pit of my stomach that I can only describe as pure rage! I want revenge!!!! And i do not know what I may be capable of...i don't know how to deal with this. I want to hurt them in the worst possible way!!! Can anyone help me or give me any advice?????
The advice which has been given by several of the above posters, is excellent advice. Let it go. You are obviously very angry right now. Acting on this anger is not the way to go. Your anger might not subside alltogether, but it will diminish. Give yourself some time to move past this period of true anger. You will realize that 'getting even' is not nearly as satisfying as rising above this situation by not seeking revenge. Sorry, this is probably not what you wanted to hear.

How can I find out what my standing in the Org is?
by lv4fer inthere was never an announcement made.
i wrote them a letter not a da letter, but essentially i told them that me and my family simply wanted to "cease to be involved with the faith" at the time on their web site it said that you would not be shunned if you simply ceased to be involved with the faith.
i also said if they made an announcement that i would sue them for slander.

I talked to the PO and he said no announcement was ever made. He said the reason people shun me is that they talk amoung themselves.
Yup, I've seen that happening before. Some people getting shunned, not because they are DF'ed per se, but because they are generally considered 'bad association'.

The New Light that burned me
by czarofmischief ini was reading the 1975 thread, and considered posting on it, but since i wasn't born until the carter administration, i don't think i really can comment on it.
i can sympathize, however.. you see, i was raised in the truth.
rarely missed a meeting.

" THEY made ME feel like I was the weak one for being so shocked.
Ha! Exactly. Hey, Jehovah has given us some new understanding of the term 'generation'. Forget what Webster's dictionary says. Forget that a generation is no more than a life span, because Jehovah has now made us understand that a generation can just go on and on and on, it can be stretched to time indefinite until our predictions come true, as they will eventually, wouldn't you think? Why do you have such a look of unbelief on your face, sister so and so? Are you doubting Jehovah's mouthpiece? Tell you what, we will have brother so and so do some additional study with you in order to make you spiritually stronger., What did you say sister? You don't have time left for additional study after pioneering all day and taking care of your 6 kids? Oh my, dontcha know that study comes first? Why don't you pray for some more time.

Anyone had a near death experience?

the nearest i came was knocking myself out - my life actually did flash before my eyes.
it could only have been seconds before bumping my head and hitting the ground, but i flashed through scene after scene of life events, from childhood to adulthood.

I survived a small plane crash, as well as a bomb on a train. Several car accidents, a vicious attack by a rabid dog, fell 4 stories down on a construction site, and I can't think of anything else right now, but there was probably more.
Anyway, here's my near-death experience (true story)
I don't do drugs and don't drink. It has just never attracted me in the least. So one day, about 8 years ago, I was having a bonfire outside (as I do every day in summer time). A few friends came over with beer. They were rolling their own cigerettes and offered me one. It never occured to them to tell me that they had mixed marijuana with the tobacco. Had I known, I would not have touched them. Anyway, I puffed about 3 cigarettes, started to feel a bit 'weird', and I decided to have a beer. Strange, because I don't drink alcohol at all. Less than an hour later, I was lying on the ground, unable to breathe and unable to walk. (I later found out that I'm allergic to both, marijuana and alcohol).
So they call the EMT.
EMT shows up and gives me oxygen. An ambulance is on the way, but I'm not an idiot. I was not going to agree to go to the hospital with marijuana and alcohol in my system, they would have judged me the wrong way. The ambulance shows up, carrying some more EMT guys. Now there's uniformed people all over my yard, my friends have disappeared (nice friends, huh? lol), and everyone is trying to convince me to go to the hospital. I'm still lying on the lawn, wearing an oxygen mask and being all freaked out. Then I overhear the EMT guys talking to one another saying how this is a 'life and death' situation. Now, I wasn't feeling oh so great, but this was no life and death situation. So for no reason, I start laughing like an idiot.
Well, I know that this is pretty lame, but that was my 'near death' experience. I was near death, according to someone else, but I was never really near death.

I have quite a passion for poetry, and love both, reading and writing it. After seeing a couple of 'poetry threads' on here lately, it seems that some of the members here are quite talented. I run a small poetry site on ezboard. Should you want some opinions on your poems, feel free to post them there. You need to register, but registration is free. I started the site last month and was assisted by 5 experienced poets, who are still there. The problem with poetry sites in general is that when you post your works, you either get 'fluffed' (nobody will tell you how your work can improve), or you get ridiculed (the critiquing sites are known to be extremely arrogant). So, we started the site, offering honest opinions in a friendly way.
Hope to see some of you there.
