Saturday, Elders response to Royal Commission
by umbertoecho inon saturday the elder and his wife turned up.
i have my reasons for not turning them away at the moment, at least, not until the completion of the rc.. i asked him about his thoughts on the rc.
he said that he thought it was easy and nothing to worry about.

If I were an Elder and I had sat one one of these cases even though it was a long time ago.....I would be very scared, it could come back and Bite You..... Even if the elder wasn't a dub anymore, Look at this Monty Baker...still caught up, but no coaching from some paid for Lawyer... -

Slow motion pioneers
by 1Averagejoe inobserving our local unemployed pioneers and how long they take to get to their first or next call, usually taking the longest route to get to one they know won't be there anyway.
along the way it's gossipy this and that.
pioneers?

Back in the day we had a group of regular pioneers who used to get up in the morning and start their time by writing letters to householders that could be used when the regulation 3 attempts at calling on not at homes failed. They would get up and still be in their pajamas and sipping coffee and eating their toast. They would have 3 hours in before they met the group for fs!!!
What a joke and what a complete waste of time!

We saw a trolley like that and 3 dubz preaching to a guy in Melbourne outside of the Mind Body Spirit Festival, too cheap to pay for a stand inside unlike the scientologists who had 3 different ones. I couldn't help but yell out to the guy to "Run....." -

wow a whole decade without going to a meeting or out door to door.. no bolts of lightening, only a couple of visits in all that time by some petrified elders and a couple of newbie locals knocking on our door in all that time!.

How big of a problem is apostasy.
by joe134cd ini often wonder if apostasy could be defined as the "silent problem", as the majority who leave for this reason choose to fade saying nothing.
in all the decades i was a witness i could probably count on 2 hands those who were disfellowshipped for apostasy.i must admit it wasn't until i came on the internet that i fully realise the depth and extent of the problem.
i think of that young girl high school speech that went viral, and you can't tell me all those 300000+ views were all none jws.

The other thing is that once you walk, leave, or fade any dubz who will talk to you..and they are few and far between will not tell you about any others who have done the same. They don't want you getting together to find out what happened to them and/or form your own group of faders..... -

How wonderful! 10 years of relative freedom from all of that BS we were bought up with. You will know the truth and the truth will set you free......ish. Pity about all the dub relatives!

AUSTRALIA | Jehovah's Witnesses and Watchtower Society Appear Before Child Abuse Inquiry | Thursday 11 April, 2013
by jwleaks injehovah's witnesses say it is not their responsibility to report child sex abuse to police unless mandatory reporting legislation is in place.. a victorian inquiry on thursday heard that when a jehovah's witness leader hears allegations of abuse they are directed immediately to contact the society's legal department to check their obligations under state law.. jehovah's witness legal counsel rachel van witsen said elders were not expected to know their legal obligations.. "this is done to ensure elders fully comply with any legal requirements that may be applicable in the state in which they reside," she said.. "in victoria if there was mandatory reporting the immediate advice would be to report that immediately.".
the society's director terrence o'brien said the decision to take the allegations to police lay with the victim.. "without mandatory reporting we don't feel that as ministers of religion that's our obligation to do that," mr o'brien said.. however, the organisation would encourage the victim to report it and would co-operate fully with police, he said.. ms van witsen said elders would make an exception if they felt the child was threatened.. "we would report that to appropriate authorities," she told the inquiry.. "we're about stopping child abuse.".
two ministers have been removed from the society for child sex abuse in 40 years of records, the parliamentary inquiry heard.. http://news.ninemsn.com.au/national/2013/04/11/20/59/jehovah-s-witnesses-stay-in-line-on-abuse.

I am reviewing some information on Child Abuse and the way that this is handled today 2015.
Has there been any changes in the directives to elders in how Child Abuse reports and actual cases are handled?
It used to be ring the legal department and handle as much in house as possible? Or do elders now mandatory report Child Abuse?
I live in Australia. Thank you in advance
