Does "proselytizer in Christ's name" = "Christian"?
by OldSoul ini am confused by a generally accepted perception that there is a need to proselytize to be a christian, or at least testify.
any information (preferrably in the form of scripture) that someone can give to shed light on this enigma would be very helpful.. respectfully,.

Scholar, does 1 John 4:1 apply to you?
by OldSoul inscholar,.
given that you believe 1 john 4:1 to be an instruction related to deuteronomy 18:20-22, i am interested to know whether 1 john 4:1 applies to everyone, including you.. was john recommending that only 1st century christians should test expressions that claim to be from an authoritative source?
or should that test be applied by everyone to any so-called authoritative expressions?.

To those who claim to speak for God: An answer!
by OldSoul intoreador asked me for a list of scriptures that strips authority from [groups] who claim to speak for god or who claim to have "the truth.
" i answered his question, but realized that others might be able to benefit from these, too.. so, if you want to take the path i took, study these chunks (paragraph context minimum) of scripture and ask two questions of each:.
(1) what does the bible say about spirit?.

Watchtower Studies, January 3-9
by OldSoul injust noticed blondie's thread on the same article http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/10/83130/1.ashx.. while cos everywhere have lamented the poor study habits of jws and dutifully report the dismal state of the "bible students" to their faithful and discreet overlords, the ruling class - i.e.
the governing body, who have begun ruling as kings already - that ruling class claps with glee.
no longer required to make sense, no longer fettered by needing even a loose connection to scriptural truths, these men have apostasized from god's word and encourage others to follow:.
