sugarbritches, the topic of the thread is different but the scriptures would apply.

Lemme know if you need more.
hi- i would like to know if anyone has any good scriptures that i could hit someone with when they say that they have to do whatever the elders tell them- even if they feel the elders are wrong and in error- they say the scriptures tell us to be obedient to those taking the lead.
they say we are to follow the elders instructions and if they are in error- jehovah will make it right.
i feel we should never blindly follow anyone.

Lemme know if you need more.
most witnesses know that if you dig too hard in their older publications, you're bound to find strange, even ridiculous, quotes.
but they are trained not to put too much thought into these older publications.
if reasonable people could legitimately disagree with the wts at that time, then what does that say about "god's channel"?
sng, a light bulb went off as a read your post.
What if that is the freakin' intent? Don't you need unreasoning animals for your cult? Wouldn't reasonable people get wise to the control and quickly haul ... asspirin? Wouldn't you be left with lots of well meaning looneys who you already know are predisposed to belief in preposterous notions? Isn't it a short jump to shunning or whatever else a quasi-reason could be developed for.
i was raised roman catholic but stopped going about 25 years ago.
i was talking with someone i work with who is a jw and suggested i might look into it.
so here i am.............
steve2! I'm shocked! Are you suggesting that afin needs to be "noble-minded"!!! Why, that's apostate thinking!
Brenda get a star! May it illumine your heart ... (can't you just hear the zithers?)

i don't know how many read my prior post "problems with jw girlfriend and her family", but i feel the need to continue the story as it is very current and is taking quite a toll on both of us.
she and i also work together at a grocery store, so even if she does/did decide to break things off (because of her parents and the religion) we would still see each other (i'll get to this in a minute).
we both know that we still love each other and that we deserve to be together, but can this religion be stronger than true love?????

in another thread, there is a discussion about young people leaving the jws at a rate of something like 88%.
we see the rules given to the sheep for raising their children and we shake our heads saying, dont they get it?
what is wrong with the org that it cant see how they are treating the youth?

Country_Woman, it can be phonetic, play on words, configuration of the letters, conceptual ... there really are no rules. It is a game of using text, presentation, and/or language elements to make a riddle.
