You asked
name these biologists who think intelligence might have been involved in evolution.
Simon Conway Morris believes God set up reality precisely so that evolution necessarily ends up producing conscious beings such as humans. If that doesn’t meet your idea of “intelligence being involved in evolution” that’s your choice.

He’s obviously decided to ride the stupidity of his subscribers all the way to the bottom. Because the idea that he give a toss about producing anything up to date on his channel is disproved week in week out. He’ll keep collecting the donations, with minimal effort on his part, for as long as people are stupid enough to send the money, which could be a long, long time at this rate.

AI can now generate faces of people that don’t exist - seems the perfect solution to the problem for Watchtower, because somebody who doesn’t exist can’t leave the truth. The same may soon be possible with video, or already for that matter the way AI is progressing.

How did you pass the time when the Kingdom Hall meetings became boring and repetitive/
by RULES & REGULATIONS inanother boring and repetitive ''watchtower study.
'' all the articles are about the ''faithful and discreet slave.''.
for whatever reason, you tolerate this for years.

Counted tiles on the ceiling like everyone else.
When I was about 22 I read a book called The Interpretation of Cultures by Clifford Geertz that uses a method for describing social situations called “thick description”. For a few months I would write “thick descriptions” of the meetings. This was quite entertaining. Unfortunately I don’t think I kept any of these “thick descriptions” and I don’t think I could replicate the process now because the method isn’t fresh in my mind, and my perspective on JW meetings has changed too.

"Independent" Scotland joke!

try telling that to scotland's tourists and many island communities: the ferry services are dying month by month, and the two new overdue & over-budget ferries justify a serious legal/criminal enquiry.. any bunch of incompetents who can't provide a small country with a ferry service and a legally binding contract to build 2 new boats - having controlled scotland since 2007 - has no credibility in claiming they could run a country!.

It’s 50/50 want independence at the moment. It is much higher now than it was before the 2014 referendum. Many expect it to rise as time goes on but nothing in the future is certain. I certainly agree with you Scotland should only become independent when a majority vote in favour of it.
The other parts of the UK should get their own votes on whether to remain in the UK. A united Ireland looks like it could happen soon. Welsh independence could be further off. England could decide it wants to go alone if it wants to and preempt the votes of other parts of the UK, although there isn’t much call for that as yet.
Yes Ireland has made a good success of independence despite Westminster not wanting to let it choose its own sovereignty initially. The sooner Scotland becomes independent the better. I think Norway voted for independence from Sweden in 1905 with an overwhelming majority. They have made a great success of it too.
Like any normal country Scotland will decide what is in its best interests in terms of currency and economic and foreign policy at the time. Since countries make these sorts of decisions all the time the idea that Scotland would be incapable of doing so is what requires some sort of explanation. But the idea that Scotland wouldn’t have been wealthier outside the UK is an insult to our intelligence when we see what Norway has done with its oil revenue compared with Westminster frittering it away in profits for private companies instead of benefitting citizens as whole.
I agree both the assets and the liabilities of the UK state will need to be settled equitably when Scotland votes for independence. We want to go on having good relations with our neighbours - better in fact once the issue of independence is settled.

Love Uni do you think Irish independence is a joke? Or is Norwegian independence a joke? Or is it just Scotland you think is incapable of independence? Please explain.
I agree that the rest of the UK will be affected when Scotland becomes independent. A spouse is affected when one partner decides to divorce, that doesn’t give them a veto. The union of Scotland and England is meant to be voluntary and the position of UK governments has always been that it is voluntary. If Westminster wants to change that position then they should be explicit about it. A country that is not allowed to determine its own status is a colony not a partner.
Have you thought through the implication of keeping Scotland in the union if it want to leave? Because if Westminster does attempt to keep Scotland in the union despite the majority of Scots wanting to leave, then that will affect England too, no? What a miserable situation for everyone involved, English as well as Scots. I can’t believe anyone seriously wants that.
The independence supporters I know are very pro England and the English. 👍

I understand your reasons for not supporting Scottish independence, but do you respect the right of Scotland to make that choice if they wish?
I have supported independence since 2003 and the illegal invasion of Iraq. I see Scottish independence as the only way to extricate ourselves from US/UK wars of aggression round the world and to remove nuclear weapons from the country. A smaller UK might help the rest of the UK reevaluate its own position on those issues as well.
Scotland should also be able to pursue membership of the EU, nationalise key services such as energy and transport, preserve the health service, and much more that Westminster curtails and blocks. Scotland frequently gets outvoted and endures policies against our inclination, as with Thatcherism in the 80s, Cameron/Osborne’s austerity, and the current destruction of public services. It’s a bit much to be lectured on the need for Scots to endure all this needlessly in the name of solidarity, and wrongheaded because a smaller UK state may be the thing to help the rest of the UK reorient toward social democracy too. In the meantime why should we be tethered to a political programme we don’t endorse? Scotland should decide its own future and direction as any other normal nation state in the world, no less and no more, just seeking to be a normal country that takes its own decisions and responsibility for those decisions good or bad.
