Lol the he’s now the go-to channel for the latest (two months old) “I can’t actually be bothered to research this” take on topics that have already been covered elsewhere by people who are actually interested in the subject. That’s a winning formula for sure. No wonder his support goes from strength to strength. Maybe he should subscribe to his own “charred hotdog level” and be done.

Are the teachings of JW—consistent?
by Fisherman ini would belief so but if you can point something out, it can be discussed.. i don’t mean what jw taught in the past that they later realized was not correct and amended.
—unless you think and can show something like that is relevant.. i’ve spoken to a lot of believers from different religions.
i don’t want to bash any religion here under this topic but their beliefs are inconsistent and their reasons are sophistry and made up and grounded on circular reasoning.

The new “faithful slave” doctrine doesn’t make much sense, because it says only the governing body comprise the “faithful slave”, not the anointed as a whole, as taught for many decades. If true, that means the “faithful slave” itself was wrong about its own identity for most of its existence. If the “faithful slave” didn’t even know who is the “faithful slave” then how can they trusted about anything?

Kurt Metzger is a HILARIOUS ex-JW comedian, and even has a routine talking about growing up as one.
Wow, Wing, I didn’t know that. I see him regularly on the Jimmy Dore show. I generally agree with his perspectives on the show. I’ve heard them talk about Mormons but not JWs.
Mike, just so long as you’re aware you’re as mad as a box of frogs that’s okay. 👍

Myth of 1914
by peacefulpete inthe wt engages in history revisionism when insisting the world changed overnight in 1914. in fact the european power struggles that came to a head were centuries old.
millions of lives had been lost in the wars of the 19th century, with the world a powder keg the years prior to the assassination of franz ferdinand in june 1914 which is often said, albeit rather arbitrarily, as the start of the war that escalated over the next 4 years into the great war.
take a look at these two pages and ask if the wt's interpretation of history seems accurate to you.

I don’t think comparisons with past performance are necessary the most relevant when considering the growth of religious groups. I find it more interesting to compare religious groups with each other at any given time because all religious groups are subject to the same society-wide forces of secularisation in the modern on age.
That being so, in western countries such as the UK, the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, the growth of Seventh-day Adventists could fairly be described as very good in recent decades; the growth of Jehovah’s Witnesses as good; the growth of Mormons as poor; and the growth (actually decline) of many other religious groups (ranging from Presbyterians to Unitarians to Anglicans) as very poor, or extremely poor.
The growth of Seventh-day Adventists and Jehovah's Witnesses may be down from the past, but both groups are doing very well in terms of growth compared with other groups. In a situation where many religious groups are shrinking by between 1 and 5% per year, should a 1 or 2% average annual growth really be viewed as a failure or any cause for alarm?

Yes I think expectation around the 1914 generation reached fever pitch in the 1980s, but that’s largely forgotten nowadays. Well over half the current JWs were baptised after the old generation teaching was dropped in 1995. As 1914 recedes into the distant past it could remain as technical teaching, and chronological curiosity, much as 1844 is for Seventh-day Adventists. -

Is time really running out? As long as SDAs can keep the 1844 date, and investigative judgement, why can’t JWs keep 1914?

Mike, you are barking mad, sincerely. (In reference to the video, not the above message, which was perfectly sensible.)

Yes probably embarrassment has something to do with him cancelling Zoom calls. It’s reasonable to assume that high level donors have dropped off faster, so perhaps zoom calls that had ten or so people showing up in the past, now only have one or two. So he would be staring at one or two people trying to put a brave face on it.
Despite his promotion of his new tiers, I see his patron number has gone up by only 4. That’s an even smaller bounce than he got last month. It looks like the patrons numbers are declining at an accelerating rate. I guess that makes sense because it must feel psychologically different to stand with someone who has kept over half his support, compared with being down to a third, a quarter, or less, and so on.

On the jealousy issue: would I like 400 people sending me money every month for very little work, or for just spouting opinions on a topic I know about? Sure, I would! But would I have the brass neck to actually tell people send me their money and keep up this facade? I don’t think I could do it. The inner cringe would be too much to bear, especially if I had to look the people in the eye over video calls. I don’t know if LE experiences no cringe about the whole thing or he just feels he has no other options.
