  For anyone thinking of having kids with a JW..

  growing up jw sucks big time.

  out in the cold in service, out in the heat in service, 30 hours a week of meetings, service, prep, family study (at least) on top of homework, chores, limited access to friends, getting dragged in front of a jc every time a stupid rumor comes up, constant pressure to "narc" on your friends, no extracurricular activities, no higher education, having to hate everyone not a jw etc, having to kiss ass to anyone who has abused you/screwed you over if you don't have "proof"... any more reasons?

  After having almost put my kids through being raised jw's, I must say that is a good post. Questions of what their life would be like came up and I never felt quite right about putting them through that (all you described). I wasn't raised that way and knew they'd be missing out on things that the WT made out to be so horrible and life-damaging even though I KNEW they weren't!! Not being able to enjoy life is damaging.

  i'm going in for a routine checkup at the behest of my partner.

  she was shocked i've never been tested, and i said well i have no symptoms, i wear condoms, and had very few partners, so i didn't think it was necessary.

  really how bad is the "q tip"???

  for me it was bible reading, where you could express your own opinion, in line with present truth of course.. pre the change it was awful listening to some fool telling you his opinion of bible highlights.

  think about this and close your eyes...think about what it is to have no existence for all existence..and nothing for all existence...notice how u cannot have both at the same time lol!

  that is crazy!

  that means if there was nothing for all existence..then it has to remain that way..and even if some particles or energy exploded to give life to earth and the planets..it still does not make sense to believe that a explosion can design humans or animals...thats just like saying i am gonna get a another house out of a explosion!

  She shunned me when we were both with colleagues in the grocery store at lunch over a year ago. She walked around the corner, looked at me and kept it moving.

  No relative or family ties whatsoever. I wasn't born in, none of my family were jw's except my stepmom (she wasn't in the picture till 10 years ago), who is now divorced from my dad and cut me out of her life when she left him (I had stopped studying less than a year prior to then).

  My 'tie' is that I shunned my family while I studied and now have only my grandmother in my life. In that way, I'll never really be "out".

  lavendar--i'm so sorry. brainwashing is a bitch. don't give up.

  snowbird--what can you do, babe. you got out and i truly, truly hope that in the future they meditate on why you did.
