  have we got it wrong ? - lets review this year

  lets review this year.

  un debacle, silent lambs roared, panorama, cnn, dateline, march on brooklyn - all unheard of 12 months ago.. where has it got us, wtbs is still there - un moved and unphased.. have we done any damage - or did we get it wrong?.

  i'm no lover of the society - but will anything move these guys?.

  I don't think anything will move those that don't want to be moved.

  I was like that once, but fortunately I was not tied to the cult by having too many family members or whatever keeps the "flock" in their place.

  I saw the light by their actions which did not comply with their doctrine and thank goodness, I managed to slowly get out before (hopefully), too much damage was done!

  But as for those life-long-saddo's that have no-where to turn or that lack the balls to do anything about it.........as you say..........they will remain unphased.

  The blood card?

  how many innocent people have died on the borg's altar of insanity with the prohibition of blood?

  now they are trying to weesel out of it, no more blood cards, a de-emphasis on the whole issue of blood, the cowerdly bastards!.

  this is a powerful litmus test as to their level of brain-washing, the death of hundreds or thousands & little, if any outcry.. well, i guess if you are calling yourself a sheep?.

  I never knew about that!

  I tore mine up and threw it away anyway and they have never offered me a new one, although I still get regular magazines and kingdom ministrys from a certain elder and his wife!

  Was it normal to have so many meetings?

  how many meetings a week, do you think we should have had in order to be reasonable and not overdone?

  maybe 30 or 40 years ago, when woman didnt work, or when life was a little easier, that all these meetings every 2 days was ok, but today with life being so stressful, and with all the time it takes commuting, is it normal to still have so many meetings.

  nothing changed in the last 50 years as far as meetings go.

  No, it was NOT normal. It was a bind, a chore, it was ridiculous to expect that much. Obviously it was planned that way to enable them to have total domination over us.

  I totally resent them for expecting that of me. It was far more than I would have given them willingly.

  I love my life now, without all of that crap.

  Forbidden Pleasures ......

  this morning on the way to work, i burst into song.

  not just any song ... but the heretofore forbidden "star spangled banner".

  i just felt like singing and i wanted to sing something challenging and it seemed like the perfect choice.

  I LOVE Handels messiah, you just reminded me. I think I'll get a copy of it just for the hell of it>

  I LOVE my weekends now. Christmas shopping is an absolute pleasure.

  I LOVE music and the choice I have nowadays. I like wearing clothes that would previously have been frowned upon. I like having a sense of humour again after years of suppresion.

  I LOVE letting my children know that I love them in many other ways than studying that crappy pink book with them and teaching them that the only way we can have true happiness is from serving jehovah.

  I LOVE not having to wear all those crappy clothes that were deemed necessary to be accepted in the kh.

  I LOVE meeting nights and mornings because I'm not there.

  I LOVE the lack of intrusion into my life that those busy-body-nosey-parkers used to give me.

  INFACT.......I LOVE LIFE, NOW THAT I HAVE ONE TO SPEAK OF!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  Question about reproof

  jehovahs witnesses over on another board are telling me that elders can reprove someone (who sinned and is repentant) privately and that that person does not lose their priveledges.

  has anyone here been reproved and kept all their congregation duties?

  if so, what does "reproof" actually mean?.

  A 'sister' in my old congregation started smoking again. When she was told that she would be publicly reproved, she told the elders that she would never come back. She recieved a private reproof and did not lose any of her privelages. Fact.

  About My Steam Train Pics..

  i guess that everone knows that i will post a pic of a steam locomotive if the sightest opportunity presents itself.

  sometimes i do it if a thread is getting heated, there's something about a pic of a steam engine that makes people smile, so it does often defuse a situation.. here's a bit of history:.

  back in the early 60's, it was decided by the british railways management, that all of it's steam powered units would be replaced by the cheaper, cleaner diesel or electric locos.

  I have been on the steam trains in the North Yorkshire Moors. Grosmont to Pickering is the route it takes, stopping also at Goathland, the beautiful place that "Heartbeat was filmed.

  I am also planning another journey up that way soon to board "The Santa Express". I'm only hoping it snows at the time, to make the visit even more wonderful.

  We are very fortunate & take it for granted

  we've just been watching an absolutely heart wrenching documentary on itv about a little girl with a very rare disease (progeria) which makes her age prematurely at 10 times the normal rate.

  she will be like an old woman by the time she is 10.. they have a meet-up where the little kids with the same condition can play and have fun together and seeing their poor little faces looking so happy is a wonder to behold.

  i guess it's easy to forget that inside they are still really little kids.

  JWs behavior on 9-11

  i keep reading references to jws drawing the blinds, etc during the attacks on 9-11. does anyone have concrete accounts of such behavior?

  Just after the attack on the WTC, I recieved a visit from an elder and his wife. Her comments on it were......"Thankfully, it appears that there were no witnesses killed"....(I don't know how true that statement actually is as she is prone to speaking gallonfulls of shit)!

  My response to her was, "oh fancy that, the mormon down the road said there were no mormons killed either!" (another statement that is probably laden with heaps of crap)!

  i am having a difficult time understanding something.

  the bible says that there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and unrighteous.

  the jws apply this teaching as though the resurrection is an earthly one.

  I really can't believe that I actually fell for all of that rubbish. I get annoyed at myself sometimes for not asking enough questions before I commited myself. And like you just mentioned about the armageddon issue, quite often it's the simple questions that are so hard for them to answer.

  were you a spirtual person at the hall, and in the service, and then a completely different person when no one was around to watch you?

  No double life for me.

  I really believed everything I was taught from the platform and did my absolute utmost to do what was required of me.It was only when I saw first hand, the despicable way a good friend was treated by this so-called loving brotherhood that I started to have my doubts. I could not bear to be with such people so meeting attendance slipped, I stopped giving talks and going out in the ministry. I got 'weak' and dared to go on the apostate sites and I've never looked back really
