Since people are getting so riled about Jesus topping some lists:
1)William Shakespeare
2)Mark Twain
3)Patrick Henry
i have been wandering around the board for a while now, and have decided it is time to contribute a bit of my history.
i have described my involvement with the witnesses as being from the outside looking in.
my sweet honey has been trying for two years to get reinstated.

this last couple of weeks, kate and i have had the distinct pleasure to talk with many of you, several for the first time (we'll not name names, you know who you are .
we'd just like to say that each and every one of you has touched our hearts.
reaching out to each other is almost incredibly hard to do, but it feels sooooo good when we let down the barriers.. craig & kate

You two are terrific! I remember you both helping me feel welcome and at ease here during my beginning days of visiting this site (or living in the chat room, however you want to look at it.). I am so glad that I met you two on here and I am looking forward to furthering our acquaintance.

P.S. I tried to call you today, twice, and left a message the second time. Hope everything is OK and that you had a happy 4th of July!
i've shared a bit about my experiences but i don't think i ever gone into much detail.
i'm setting this down as an example of what growing up a witness can be like for any lurkers who have doubts or questions.
i was born into a family of witnesses.
(((((((Aztec)))))))) You are so brave for telling that here!

i feel the need to express how i feel and felt about my life as a gay man.
i was brought up from birth as a jehovahs witness.
this has played a major part in my life and it has been a real struggle to get past.
((((((m0nk3y)))))) I read your story and I thank you for sharing it with us. That took a lot of guts, honey. Also, I am glad that you survived such pain in your life. I wish you all the best!

as americans, we have a day to celebrate our country's independence.
what will you do on the 4th??
?
I will be having people over and we will probably set off fireworks and have a bonfire in the back yard. On the 5th is when our town has a fireworks display over the harbour and we will go watch that. All in all, I think it will be a fun July 4th celebration.
doodling around on the internet the other day, i took a little survey at.
to see where my ideal place to live would be.
the top three spots were:.
I am already where I want to live. However, I went ahead and took the quiz and the #1 location it came up with is Ketchikan(sp?), Alaska. After that one was Seward, AK and some towns in rural MI as well as some place in Idaho. I guess that reflects me...just a small town girl.
hi all and thanks for being here and caring.
i have had a bad day today.
most of you have heard me rant and rave about my thirty years in the borg, not yet over.

I am so sorry that you are going through tremendous emotional agony. We all have differing experiences leaving the JW religion/cult but one thread that runs through all of our stories is pain. It is so horrible how this organization damages people.
I just wanted you to know that I read your post and I care. I am, at this moment, giving you a great big cyberhug.

P.S. I always enjoy reading your posts on blondie's Comments You Won't Hear... threads.
did you consider yourself a real student of the bible, one who regularly read the scriptures, with a view to helping others learn the "truth" of god's word?
Yes, I truly believed that I was a student of the Bible and I had a sincere desire to help others. Later, I realized I was not truly a student of the Bible; rather, a student of WTBTS doctrines.
